Yeah, it's an interesting transmission. It's a DCT with a torque converter (presumably to help at low speeds). Right now I think it's only paired to the 4cyl.

A sequential transmission with paddles on the steering wheel and a clutch pedal on the floor would be awesome. I've been wanting something like that in a car ever since I started riding motorcycles.

I can definitely say that I miss the 6 speed a lot. I bought the seven speed auto just because I thought I was tired of manual cars. But after a few weeks I did miss it. Dont get me wrong I track my auto and it is fast the paddle shifters work great and I can spin the wheels in 2 and 3rd gear no problem but I miss the third petal. I know that the stick shift days are numbered with the DCT being favored by many European, and Asian car manufactures. I guess we can still look forward to American Muscle.

My next car will probably be a flappy-paddle box, as long as it's DCT. None of this torque converter stuff.

I guess that leaves the C63 AMG out.

Another reason I got the AT is the accelerator on the 370Z sucks. The 350Zs I had were much better and they were manual transmissions. When I test drove the 370Z I felt it was too much effort to drive smoothly. I don't know why they now have the accelerator pivot on the floor. This my biggest complaint with the 370Z. It is much better than the 350 in every other way.

I love the way it's floor mounted. I hate the more traditional way, feels so unnatural.

floor mounted is awesome for pretty much everything except a little harder to heel-toe.........but no need when you got the BETTER 7AT option.

*No need when you have SRM.

Not a matter of AT/MT. Unless you went without the sport package on your MT.

oh geez, i absolutely HATE paddles that turn with the steering wheel. that is so dumb when you're trying to shift into 2nd while making a left hand turn. you'll be all twisted and tangled up.

I test drove the 7AT, the shift weren't smooth as when i shift manually, and the pedal seemed to have a pretty large deadzone compared to the manual. I knew beforehand that id go with a manual. But i was let down anyways by the paddles. Ive always thought they were cool.
