I work in Morrisville/Durham... live in Fuquay. Surprised you are hibernating your Z here. Being a Chicago native, these NC winters are laughable. Z isn't my DD but I expect to be driving it through the winter on the cold/dry days. Stupid q, but where are your stands mounted? Using a puck and factory jack points? I've seen threads and pics but when I'm under there, can't ID a good flat spot yet. Used a brace convergence point for my diff oil change, but not optimal... |

I usually just drive one front wheel up onto a piece of 2x12 laid flat which gives me just enough room (at stock height) to access the front garage jack point with my low profile jack. I use a regular hockey puck when I use the garage jack points, and I have a puck with a slit cut in it for use on the side pinch rails. |
Quote:
Thx, JAR...will have a look. Haven't had to raise the front yet, but planning to use the same point as you and the rear is easy using the diff... Just struggling to settle on good jack stand points so far. Oh, keeping to the rules... I opened the Z looking for my micro USB cable this morning. And should be getting tint this week. W00t! |

Today I protected the Z from freezing rain by leaving it in the garage. Thought it would be for the best.

Just put spacers on a few days ago..20mm front 20mm back (both bolt ons from Z1);
Front wheels had seized, so could only 20mm in back Friday..https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7504/...8d872aac_b.jpgZ finished Spacers by TaroBaapG35, on Flickr Then with the help of Firestone, and a quick $10, they unseized front wheels, put spacers on and retorqued rear wheels.:happydance: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7500/...27ca6bab_b.jpgZ finished Spacers by TaroBaapG35, on Flickr And on a side note, seems like the guys there havent seen a 370z...They were all crowded around the car and helping me decide if I wanna go with RE-11s, S-04 Pole Positions, MPSS, or AS/3s...Since this car is my "DDiish, and Charlotte weather isnt that bad, i might do S-04s..idk.. |
I swapped out my Advans for Blizzaks a couple of weeks ago. The rear wheels on mine had stuck too. A couple of whacks on the tire with a rubber mallet freed them up quite nicely. I hit the mating surface on the wheels with a surface prep pad on an air grinder, just enough to take off the rust, then put a light coat of CLP on them before bolting them on. I'd be real leery of the 'mechanics' at some of these tire places. I've seen them throw torque wrenches across the floor, strip lug nuts and break studs...

I had juuuust about decided on doing 20/25, but looking at your 20s I did a 180. 25 in back is too much for me. Yours look proper. Thx! |

Appreciate that man. One of my biggest concerns is when I need to get the whole car on stands. I worry that when either the f/r are up and I go to the lift the other end, the car slips off the stands as that's the pivot point ya know. Probably better to do l/r sides in that case but still need solid points. I saw that thread you linked and actually got the idea to use a that rear brace as my stand point from that. |

Well, unfortunately I'm not doing anything with my car for approximately 35 more days... it's being shipped to me in Germany.

Drove into work again today. Mid Atlantic is sunny and mid 40's. Perfect day to drive.
Oh yea. I'll be forced to drive home as well. Hopefully it will not be stop and slow traffic. :driving: |
Hit 88,888 miles :(
|
What kind of higher mileage maintenance have you done?

I am giving the Z a day of R&R to recover from driving to work yesterday. Tucked away in it's garage. Hoping for no snow and ice this winter. We bought a monster snow blower so the likelihood has been significantly reduced. |
I got on the gas too early in the rain yesterday and needed a quick correction. Never even saw the flashing VDC light.
Today I'm staying put as this rain and windstorm passes. |

For the first time, I spent a considerable amount of time (2 hours, or so) driving on the interstate today. I love my Z even more. |

At the tint shop. She's looking clean under these lights. Watching the installers like a hawk lol

I see you're in NC..What % tint did you get and what did they charge? I work at Best Buy PT so i thought I'd get it cheap..but they increased prices for Employees.. :crying:..so now the search begins for a reputable place with semi-decent pricing. AND to stay on topic, I ran over 18,000 miles today. Bought the car at 16,7xx. 1300 Mi driving manual. Scary as hell (not used to a car shaking when getting into higher RPMS), and fun as hell. |
my z does not shake at redline or while bouncing off the limiter... your car is broken.
|
Quote:
lol, When I say shake, I mean the car, "vibrates" and you can feel the gear shifter going crazy when im going over 4.5k rpms. And its a characteristic of the car as a Nismo (2014) I drove did the same. But regardless, its still surprising at times. But, I love it. Makes it feel like I'm going faster. :driving: |
i think your brain is broken then.. ? :ugh:

Also One more thing I did today with the Z..Drove it to work. |

I got 40% all around. Light meter read 36% so a few points on over the legal limit. Went to All Pro Window Films in N. Raleigh. Decent shop and the guys know their stuff... Didn't have to tell them how to keep the windows up and they were very meticulous about curing the edges, etc. Not the cheapest around, but don't need the hassle of crap film and crappier installs. Had my first derp moment, too. Got a few miles away and realized I didn't know what happened to the key. Pulled over looked everywhere. Called shop and he told me they left it in front of the gear shift... Nope. Kept looking, then got a call back - they put it in the damn key dock! Fuggin key sits all ninja like in there. N00b. |

:tiphat: On topic: caressed my under cover beloved Z-then patted him-admired the fat tires and smiled. Really looking forward to spring. Sigh. I love Harry. |
The 350 looks like it will be getting repaired, but in the meantime I'm browsing used 370s in the area. :driving:
Also looking at used Evoras. :icon17: |
