like going to a hair salon. if you go in looking like crap, they arent going to treat your hair very well..

if you go to supercuts, then you turn out looking like crap regardless. :icon17:

NO NO NO NO :shakes head: We've established this. It is NOT just a car.

All of my paint imperfections are rock chips. I've managed to be very lucky and not incur any door dings. Yet. I'm sure I just jinxed myself :eekdance:

It is raining in CA, Hooray. I still retain my R888's so more experimentation.

kenchan 10-31-2014 11:21 AM

i didnt know socal folks knew how to drive in rain.

kenchan 10-31-2014 11:25 AM

mishuko- if you run those suction cup brackets for your radar detector make sure to take that off the glass while in hibernation. otherwise the silicone cups deform and would require you to boil it to get it back to shape. :ugh:

But it's a fast paper weight.

I have a long drawn out story about how I found my current cutter on the east coast. Moved from WA to DC. Got a crap cut from haircuttery, went back to WA to visit and got the crap cut fixed by my regular WA cutter and she suggested her friend who went to the same beautician school and now lives in DC. Lo and behold, she worked 10 minutes from my house. That's the short version. No more crap cuts.

tnav 10-31-2014 11:53 AM

Got a new set of Nitto Motivo, smooth and quiet ride, great looking tire, but no grip, they scream like a cat and again, no grip, they basically suck. The OEM Bridgestones were much better in terms of grip and they aren't even that great compared to other tires, I am bringing them back to get something else.

JARblue 10-31-2014 11:59 AM

Try out the Nitto Invos - they don't have the best grip out there but should be worlds better than the Motivos. Plus if you DD, the Invo rain performance is unmatched. I used them for several years (though I am on RE-11s now, which are light years better when it comes to dry performance).

The OEM tires suck for grip vs wear value. There are much better options - Michelin PSS, Bridgestone S-04, Continental DW Extremes. Stay away from the Hankook V12s. Just my :twocents:

Thanks for the info! I had INVOs in my 350z and loved them, RE11s for sure are on the list ... how many miles on the RE11s and has the performance diminished? Thanks again! I only get 1 chance to swap these so I better get it right this time.

JARblue 10-31-2014 01:07 PM

The RE-11s were used (I bought an extra set of wheels) with numerous track days on them (less than half life left in the rear and ~half life in the front). Even at that, they pull 10-15 mph faster around every high speed curve I drive regularly than the Invos could when new. I'm pretty much expecting the rears to last another <5K miles (equating to not quite twice the tread wear I experience with the Invos). I'll be going back to Invos or trying the S-04s or Conti DW Extreme afterwards because the way I drive the car I can't really justify paying more for less tread life.

Diff oil refresh

Cold ( for E. NC ) and rainy today. Perfect day to post up in the garage and swap diff oil.

I'm a shade over 5k, but only 600 of that are my miles as I bought "used" and was surprised that the oil wasn't that bad at all. Based on what some of what I read on here, I was expecting straight sludge. Nonetheless, happy I got it in and don't have to worry about it for a while.

Loving my new low profile jack, too.

Tomorrow, we cruise!

tnav 11-02-2014 12:06 AM

Got my huge RE11s 275/305, removed the bolt-on spacers, and went for a nice drive through Angeles Crest, it was cold, wet, and foggy, man that was the greatest drive ever. The car was absolutely planted, thankfully it was not raining, just wet from last night's rain, so I had tons of grip.

Sigh
Put the stock rims on with winter tires. Going into storage soon, figured no reason to sit on the good tires all winter.
Going to miss her till spring but I I'll enjoy the car that much more when I get her back on the road.

Ouch. Pain in the arse to get that fixed but it is an opportunity. When you say someone didn't.......are you saying it was intentional?

Yes. I think it was intentional. I went to my car tuner and he also think somebody shoved something in my fender en bend the **** out of it. first he thought i must of slammed a curb hard or something but then there would also be damage somewhere else on the fender. its only that single bend in the fender no damage anywhere else. if it was something from slamming my nose in something the fender would of been damaged more to the front.

it definitely looks like somebody just took a pipe or something stick like and just went to town on it.

Mt Tam I am 11-03-2014 09:15 AM

I washed my car in the rain with a bucket, micro fiber glove and a brush for the wheels. No drought here.
