Up early... need to go to the body shop for them to check out my damage and figure out when I can drop it off to fix up the windshield and chip to the roof.

Also priced out some parts... hopefully will get them done this month sometime to get some enjoyment out of them! (will keep it a secret so I can boost my epeen later!)

Started my new install with all the Diamond Audio gear...finally!!

Pics will be in the Audio section in a week or so.

Second attempt at getting my inspection renewed today. It's not due until January but I'd like to buy myself a year after I install some stuff.

First time using this stuff... Works really well, just have lots of MF towels available... We had some rain last week, car was covered in light rain spotting from dust, etc... Cleaned right up, brilliant shine! Another nice Chemical Guys product! Zero drought related guilt.

nice. ive been using ONR for years with great results. drought over here in CA lately so ive been using it even more than normal. guilt free since i only use ~5 gallons of water that i then use to water the shrubs!

Failed inspection for tinted tail lights. Funny how I've passed it elsewhere the last two years with them.

brancky3 09-06-2014 08:08 PM

Got the windows tinted on my Z and our Juke Nismo

Well, after that positive and productive day, today I curbed my front driver side wheel. :shakes head:

Anyone with a 2013/14 know if it's easy to color match the OEM 19" Sport wheel? I know the 350Z 18" sport Rays were a multi-stage and multi-color paint process and was nearly impossible to duplicate.

The same garage that does most of my mods does my inspections. I try not to change it up, most of my cars in the past wouldn't pass a straight up inspection from a regular garage.

In other news, since I'll be driving my Z this winter... I've decided to dip my car. Just ordered a datona yellow plastidip kit with some glosifier from dipyourcar.com. Hopefully it holds up alright. Roads get really bad up here and I couldn't bare the thought of rock chips and all the rock salt getting on my paint. Should have it finished by next week, I'll drop some pics when it's done.

Your in Austin, take a drive to the south side in S.A. I am sure you can find a reputable inspection station.

Blacked out tail lights....no problem.....blacked out windows.....no problem....racing slicks....no problem...missing portrait of Thomas Jefferson in insurance papers....problem.
:ugh2:

Hoping for a little rain to deter me from washing my baby today.

I'll be there Tuesday at JMS. Hopefully I'll have time to get it done. I didn't know that SA did not require emissions testing.....

Could be that since they are combining inspection and registration next year in Texas (I think starting in March-April) to one sticker, and you are going to have to take paper from inspection site to DMV to renew registration, the shops are going to get a bit tougher on inspections since it will be very easy to determine where inspection was done in the event of an equipment issue accident. Then again, could just be you got the wrong inspector on luck of the draw...

14ZTSport 09-07-2014 11:41 AM

Almost forgot, all I did with my Z today, so far, was watch it get wet. Hoping to be able to dry it off and do quick detail spray before end of day...

I didn't go to my usual shop since their reader was down. I gambled and went to another location of theirs and got shafted. Even the lady at the front desk told me that their shop sucks for inspections. She couldn't tell me that before hand apparently.

Found out that Bojangle's packs their fried chicken in a box that is able to withstand sudden turning maneuvers. Box flipped all over the place and nothing fell out!

Went to the track and watched porsches, gtrs, camaros, stangs, rx7, audi r8 go at it for a while. Met up with carlitos Z there, both eager to go in but it was not our time :shakes head:

Next month, yes, next month we"ll be ready

Finally replaced my spark plugs. Not as much of a pain as I thought it was gonna be.
Took it out for a drive after I finished and it sure felt strong. Passed a pokey jeep and hit triple digits quite quickly. :driving:

Well I just quit my job after 9 years. Tired of all the deployments. I'm just going to go to school and use my GI bill. With my benefits, I should just be able to go to school without having to work . So I figured since I already have another vehicle, the Z could go.

But I love speed so I can't see going more than a year without another sports car. So I'm going American muscle next time. Vette, used Viper possibly, hehe :driving:

On topic post:

The shop that installed my Centric Posi-Quiet brake pads a few months back also had to turn the rotors. Now I have vibration when braking. They inspected them yesterday and I was told to invest in slotted rotors as these pads are getting too hot and my rotors are beginning to warp. This kind of has me thinking that they just don't want to try to fix anything under warranty. Z1 advertises the Centric's as "easy on rotors."

Bananaz 09-07-2014 11:11 PM

Made my own custom rear "z" fog light during this weekend

Pintsize, I was actually going to ask if I should just have my rotors turned and get new pads OR get the blank rotors Z1 sells and get new pads.. Decisions.

Damn, so sounds like I shouldn't get my rotors turned or buy posi quiets.

My stock rotors have been pulsing for awhile. Was going to go route you did.

Glad to be the guinea pig lol. If I can make it long enough on this set up, I'll probably grab the brake upgrade kit when Z1 has their annual X-Mas sale.

crying on the inside... the windshield and labor to install and fix my chip is a lot... enough to buy an exhaust and get it installed. Now time to call my insurance company and start the claim process... :(

yea it's 300 deductible... i just checked with my insurance i don't have OEM coverage and would have to pay the difference... :shakes head:

I trust my shop though with the aftermarket... and knowing me it'll probably get cracked again by a wild rock... stupid super effective rocks ambushing me :(

Haboob 09-08-2014 10:06 AM

Drove two hours in first gear (for the most part) in torrential rains and flash floods.

Screw Phoenix sometimes.

Yeah. And this is the remnants of that hurricane (or typhoon, whatever they're called in the Pacific) that hit off the coast of California.

This is officially the wettest day it's ever been in Phoenix - 3.5" of rain and counting it seems.

Right?

Haha. It's not been like this in such a long time though. We used to get good rains like this every year, then it stopped for a decade or so... no one is used to it anymore.
