All this detail talk reminds me that it's about time for a clay bar and more wax. It's way too hot though. :(

yah, it's definitely a lot of work.

btw, ive not had success with meguiar's "soft" clay. they start out soft but
turn coarse and hazed the hell out of my Z's paint early on. i hated it.
had to polish that out..extra work =

i only use griot's soft yellow mud clay. definitely use disposable gloves.

Last 4 times I washed my car, it got rained on within 30 min. Washed it today... Looks like rain soon...summer time in south Florida I guess...

i got the PC 7424XP, 3 different lake country pads and use the ultimate line compound / polish and the gold wax. once i'm out of compound i'm going to check a sampler of the 105 and see how it goes. I do like the polish though so i might stick with that for now.

for clay i am using mother's (it's yellow too) + mother's QD... it's not bad i just spray some more QD ater i'm done to clean off any residue. i'm going to try the meguiar's QD once i'm done with mother's but i need to source some concentrated QD to make life easier.

this whole cleaning ritual thing is very relaxing... requires lots of elbow greases and time but it's something that puts me in that special place

kenchan 08-19-2014 02:06 PM

yah, i had good results with mother's clay as well.

but they get pretty brittle on a cooler/cold day. even placed it in the microwave for like 5sec to get it to warm up. lol ;) i kid.

Got my Z back from dealer with new tranny. It feels amazing! They even fixed the bang my exhaust made when going over bumps and part of my side skirt that was starting to fall off without me even mentioning it.

Ings Lip installed today, fitment was awesome and cake to install

aszyd 08-19-2014 08:38 PM

Very nice! I'd be chasing that lip down if I didn't want the new Nismo bumper. Ings has a few nice parts for the Z.

Got denied at the best tint shop in town...they're backed up due to a major hailstorm and all the new vehicles from cars being totaled...looks like it will be late September or October...

Dinner with Mr. Mt. Tam I Am tonight was groovy as always.

Bananaz 08-20-2014 11:02 PM

Came back from track tonight. Only my 2nd time there with the Z and the 1st I was on runflats and it popped out of gear every launch due to wheel hop. This time my best run was 13.6 at 102mph. I know I can do better but she felt great off the line and hooked at 18psi on streets.

The poor kid always needs a few extra bucks ;)

A few days ago he asked to wash my car to make a few bucks which I had told him I'd pay him for the job. He did it solo for the first time and vacuumed it as well. While he had the equipment and supplies out, my wife offered to pay him to wash her Altima also. He did.

This evening he got all the stuff back out and washed my old Solara that he has been driving since I got my Z in March. It was the first time he has washed it since he started driving it.

Sometimes things work out just as you hoped they would! :happydance:

Credit to pfdaxe for a high quality grill and to Ms. Pint for donating it in exchange for future oil changes :tiphat:

I started detailing the underside of my Nismo and finished when day light
came. In the process I had Burger King make a delivery around 4:00pm...
Burger King has a minimum delivery order of 20.00 dollars. Let me tell
everyone a 20.00 dollar order from Burger King is a lot of food.........
Around 11:00pm made a phone call to Round Table and they delivered a large
King Arthur supreme. Finished in time to see the sun rise. Life is good.....
