Been working on my 1975 280z this weekend. Did a fluid exchange on the brakes and clutch system. I also pulled my Nismo in for an oil change. Inspected the clutch fluid and found this. 23,000 miles and I have coffee in my clutch master cylinder reservoir. Take a look. Had to do a fluid exchange on this also. Ugg.

It did have some debris in the bottom of it. Used my master vac to vaccum out the old fluid. Cleaned with a paper towel and directed the paper towel in the cracks with a jewelers screw driver. Didn't need any of that crap going downstream.

Don't kidd yourself, the Jag had nothing to do with the "nice car" comments. Jag's are for fags.

Call me a "fag". But I'd take an f type coupe any day!

Yup, I wouldn't say "no" to an F-Type.

Yesterday we drove the Z to the lake and went kayaking, people were confused to see a sports car by the boat ramp

yah, my clutch fluid was a slightly discolored at 5yrs/15.5K miles on my Z.
i did the ranger method about a month ago, and it's as clean as my fresh
dot3/4 in the brake reservoir. :D

Waiz 08-18-2014 12:08 PM

Looks like 15K clutch fluid service will be the norm for me. Hope I caught it in time or a failure will surely insue.

I check mine when I check my oil. I even have the Stingray guy across the avenue doing the fluid swap every Sat before he goes to the track on Sunday. His Stingray after a few launches makes his fluid BLACK. Although his reservoir is black, we put it into a water bottle and it was opaque.

when i did the ranger method, which is 30 clutch in/out per cycle (x3 cycles), my clutch started to squeak during the 2nd cycle.

so you might want to do 15 in/out per cycle instead.

the squeaking went away after 5-10min though. i think the csc may have
heated up or something. not sure wat the squeaking was from.

I didn't use the ranger Method. Don't even know what it is. I used a master vac with tank to suck the fluid out of the reservoir. I then filled it back up with Dot 4 fluid. Go under the car and used the master vac again. loosened CSC bleed screw, installed the vaccum pump and tank. Vaccumed some fluid out, filled reservior again, Vacced more, etc. until the fluid coming out at the CSC was clean. I never touched the clutch pedal. I got all of the fluid out and then some. My clutch does feel so much better.

the ranger method is a quick job you can do at the pump or track without using tools other than a turkey baster and your left foot.

Fucking ran over a piece of trash (no way to avoid it) that ripped the shitty plastic undershroud. I exited immediately, and it fell away as I slowed down to turn off the frontage road. The biker behind me should probably be glad I caught it :eekdance:

Excuse for a new ZSpeed black undershroud? I think so :yum:

Three weeks?! What was damaged? It only took a week for repairs to my left front quarter.

They let me borrow a Rogue... While it was not a terrible car, I think I would have rather had the Sentra.

FairladyZ10PG 08-18-2014 11:21 PM

^lol yea sentra's actually not too bad

I have damages to rear bumper, rear quarter panel, rear wheel, and might have some suspension damage as well...

Bananaz 08-18-2014 11:42 PM

Washed that bish :) Need a detail asap..so many swirl marks..

Benibiker 08-18-2014 11:53 PM
