So I installed the Z1 oil pan spacer. Have a problem...
I made the slippery sandwich of oil pan, grey RTV, spacer, grey RTV and was trying to line up the holes and needless to say, it slipped around a bit. BUT, I got it lined up and hand tightened the bolts. I let it sit for and hour, then tightened a little more to spec. I let this sit overnight, and about 15 hours later I filled with Redline oil. (A Mobil 1 oil filter was also changed out before the spacer was put on). Anyway, I went to start the car, which was on 4 jack stands and let it run for 10 minutes. I checked for leaks, there are none. I turn off the engine. So I get the car down and get in and was about to take it for a drive. I start the car and notice the low oil pressure light is on in the dash. I don't now if this was on during the 10 minutes I let it run because I was not in the car, I was underneath it checking for leaks.
Why is the low oil pressure light on?? Could it be that some of the RTV slid off while wet when I was trying to install it into the oil pan, dried, and is now blocking the pick-up screen? I also hope I didn't do any engine damage while it idled for 10 minutes. The engine sounds normal, no clunking noises or anything. So now I'm at the point where I am going to drain the oil out again through a screen filter, and redo the spacer installation. Ugh!!

Love/hate relationship, for sure, but totally worth it.

Finally took the car out for some spirited driving. Left Buffalo this morning at 9 for Pennsylvania. Just got back. Awesome roads. Wish I had a way to take pictures while driving the curvy roads because they were beautiful.

Mr Chow 05-28-2016 07:54 PM

Installed iJDMTOY running, brake & backup light. Looks very cool.

While I was in the hatch area, covered the wheel wells, spare and cross brace with Noico 80 mil butyl sound dreading material. I did not have a way to measure before and after road noise. Subjectively the road noise is less bright or tinny. I like it.:driving:

Ugg, not good. The 2nd oil pan has to come off along with the front of the engine. Timing chain and all. Hope you got the skills for it otherwise it is going to get expensive.

I just got home from a day trip to Yellowstone NP. All day with the top down. We saw lots of wildlife including two black bear. It's a good day!

Thought I found a place with a set of RE11's for me across the country but that fell through. Might just bite the bullet and go PSS or PS2

barncobob 05-31-2016 11:04 AM

The miSHITmoto thermostatic sandwich plate is known to fail and dump all your oil out while you're driving down the road. I'd definitely recommend you get a Mocal one :twocents:

Forgot to post this up, but got some firehawk indy 500's mounted and balanced about a week ago....loving them, fairly quiet and very sticky tires....for those not in the know the new firehawk indy 500's are bridgestone re-003 in disguise :D

Put a Takeda Attack CAI in my totally stock 09' touring 6spd. Definetly gives the VHR a little more character and hopefully a little more power. Did it mostly for the sound. No more Pathfinder. Great kit, install was easy, happy with the results. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...fcafc4294f.jpg
The infamous radiator mount squeeze. Definetly pinching the silicone but I liked not having to cut anything.

I hadn't heard this. Appreciate the heads up. Emailed my guy to see if I could still change it before it ships.

There was no particular reason I spec'd that one, it was just part of the price match quote I was lucky enough to get.

They use cheap Chinese parts with no quality control, so stories like this one are far too common. I wouldn't risk it IMO :tiphat:

Put another 250 miles on Z. On the way home, I passed three cops at 90 mph

85 mph speed limit though, so they didn't even bat an eye

Mine got washed the night before...

Today a quick polish with some V38, then some Chemical Guys Celeste on it. 50/50 is good, but Celeste = even better!!

Chemical Guys - Celeste Dettaglio V2 Paste Wax

Looks amazing!!!

Now that it settled in, it's not nearly as loud. Still a great sound! After it runs for a bit and sits at idle. It's whisper quite which is a good and bad thing ahaha.

I really feel the car needs coilovers next. No more wheel wobble from the spacers. So maybe do another run with ya soon!

Wheels3309 06-01-2016 07:29 PM

Glad to hear! Definitely on the run... Been scoping some good routes from the motorcycle forums lol. Also just recently discovered 3-4 cars & coffee events in the area that look promising:tup:
