Finally got to wash her after a month. Kept raining and traveled twice for work but squeaky clean now. Still need to vacuum the inside and do another coat of wax.

Preparing for my last leg home tomorrow. 500 mile drive

Spooler 05-24-2016 07:10 PM

Just got my last parts for my suspension upgrade. Can't wait to get it all installed. New to me FI mufflers are also on the way. I can't wait to have my FI exhaust on the car. I so so miss that glorious sound. Gather a few parts for my oil cooler also. Wish
I had it on the car last week. Oil got way hot at 275F.

Been itching to do this... but I have little to no electrical talent. Need to build the confidence to jump in.

mishuko 05-25-2016 06:53 AM

Sitting in a shop waiting for the mechanic to take a look at my tire... slow leaks suck. And I don't want any issues before I go on my trip :(

mishuko 05-25-2016 07:15 AM

****.... nail right past the bead. Had it plugged. Now the drive home and cry as I need a new set of re11 rears

No....

Need an emergency response. Is this plug location safe to drive for 500 miles?

Well that absolutely blows. What a waste of brand new tires. Especially for the hassle you went through to get them.

I'd be cautious with a plug that close. It should technically be fine though as long as you're not drifting through intersections.

So 500 miles highway and easy on the right corners?

mishuko 05-25-2016 08:37 AM

It's on the inside wall. Bahhhh lol

njobe89 05-25-2016 08:37 AM

yeah it should be fine... you just can't drive it like you stole type of deal.

always get the hazard thingy. it's no questions asked... so if somehow someway you got nails in both tires on the sidewalls they would have to give you two brand new tires :D

mishuko 05-25-2016 08:45 AM

See there's so much lingering doubt because it's 50 50 yes and no. **** I'm going to get a re050a from the dealer hope they can do it today

it's not a 50/50... it's a yeah you can do it just drive carefully. check if it's leaking for air now. if it's not then you're good to go.

Really? Man its so far over. ... I'm scared of a blow out

Leingod 05-25-2016 08:54 AM

Jar and Jobe are right. You'll be fine driving on it. Just don't take any hard corners.

You call Discount Tire? They should be able to check inventory at all their shops in town. I actually got lucky and fellow Z owner that worked there found and sold me a set of used rears when one of my RE-11s separated.

it won't blow that easily unless you romp on the car and put the tire under a lot of pressure. i've driven like that before and my tire never lost air or popped. if it's mainly 500 miles of highway driving you should be fine. but the decision is always up to you

mishuko 05-25-2016 08:56 AM

Lol jar is against driving on it.

500 miles on the highway....

If you have to drive home on it, the goal is to keep the tire from heating up. The colder the tire, the better the plug will hold.

I might be tempted to buy the one tire. Different tread on left and right rear tires for 500 miles is probably better than risking the blow out. Then you only have to load up one tire to take home with you, which might actually fit in the hatch depending on how full it is.

Dude... I am driving on a constantly leaking front driver side tire on the Civic. it's almost bald and slowly leaks to the point of needs air every 2-3 days. This tire is still seeing daily use at 60mph for over 20 miles a day. It's been like this for over half a year.

Your tire is def safe. Don't worry. Take it easy and the tire will survive the 500 miles easily.

mishuko 05-25-2016 09:09 AM

I am getting some pos tire from discount to get me home. I cannot risk my gf :/

Trunk is packed so I'm figuring out how I'm going to get the tire home. It was a nail but I didn't get any hazard protection. I'm probably going to scrap it here. **** me. Such is life

njobe89 05-25-2016 09:15 AM

hey if it goes out get your gf to push the car problem solved lol

Ghostvette 05-25-2016 09:45 AM

While it might be okay for around town driving, I wouldn't risk it on a 500 mile trip at highway speed. Rear tire blowout at that speed is not something to mess with.

mishuko 05-25-2016 11:20 AM

Any blow out at hwy speed with a packed hatch is asking for trouble

I need the peace of mind and an extra hole in the wallet

So my rears having different tread patterns will be interesting but heck atleast it's a 285/35.

And when I'm home I'll have to figure out what to do with the tires now :(

mishuko 05-25-2016 04:24 PM

300 miles to go! Taking a break. Resting my eyes and grabbing gas. Little bit of pull bht it's not terrible. Tire probably was a bit slip from break in. Not bad at all now.

mishuko 05-25-2016 04:25 PM

Btw thanks for everyone's input. Appreciate the fam here.
