Decided to just see what happens without the traction control on...
Took a nice slightly banked 90deg turn under stupid braking entering (love how this car can late brake, unlike the wrx), was in manual mode, 2nd gear, did a a perfect 2nd gear power slide drift from just before the apex without breaking the double yellow under full throttle. It was just beautiful!!!!!!!! (there were even a few trophy wife/stay at home n look good blonds walking, they all turned n looked in my rear view...will never happen again!!) Finally learning this car after 2 years of ownership! Has much higher and more controllable limits than all of the online "reviews" make it out to have. Was on blacktop, not poured concrete, which it seems has more traction but is uneven and trips up the traction control (who the hell programmed this???) By the way: First set of tires that's lasted me over 12 months in my past ten years of car ownership! Michelin Pilot Super Sports = Well worth the $$. I think I may actually get 2 years out of these. Other than that, life is boring, got turned down by the hot blond chick next door :-(... and a stupid Prius driver actually thought he had a chance at out cornering me on bicycle tires this morning. Don't move to Portland if you're a car enthusiast, unless you like being miserable. |

Installed Z1 CNC wheel spacers today. 25mm front, 30mm rear on 09' base 18's. Not lowered yet, but Teins and an SPC camber kit are on the way. Happy with the look. A little poke, a nice and aggressive stance for the stockers.

New RJM Performance HD CMC installed :D
I'll have to wait to finish the bleeding process when I have a helper. Plus I need to do some adjustments on the new clutch pedal since I have to bleed it at 0% AFP adjustment for full stroke. Stock is about 75% AFP, and I like to adjust mine somewhere in the middle around 40% :driving: |
Well, brunch happened this morning, and I never made it to the test drive point. The system is bled and the pedal is adjusted where I want it. However, sounds like the clutch isn't fully disengaging when I depress the clutch pedal. The most likely culprit is my slave cylinder mechanical linkage (I have the Z1 kit). I've got a buddy that is going to come by the house and check it out while I'm out of town next week. Then I've red eye home next Thursday night, so I'll make whatever adjustments are necessary on Friday. I do have some photos and but I'm not sure a DIY thread is necessary. The instructions Ryan has put together are very thorough. I'll probably do a thread with a few comments on things not to do lol.

Installed the AAM S-Line Short Tails on mine yesterday.
http://charlest.zenfolio.com/img/s11...95731903-5.jpg Everyone always says you have to remove the heat shield around the charcoal canister... You don't. It's made of very pliable, very thin metal. By hand, I just bent it away from the exhaust and under the canister, still protecting it from heat. The heat shield is a good 1.5" away from the exhaust and about 0.75" away from the canister and hoses. http://charlest.zenfolio.com/img/s5/...51449267-5.jpg http://charlest.zenfolio.com/img/s12...79306248-5.jpg And this install wasn't so straight forward. I've installed exhaust systems on several cars over the years and this one was no different, as in it doesn't fit correctly like it should. For starters, the left pipe was about a 0.5" longer than the left, and there isn't near enough adjustment sliding the exhaust tips in or out to compensate, so we had to take a hacksaw and chop off half an inch off of the left pipe. Laying the pipes side-by-side, you could see the extra length on the left pipe. Second, the left pipe should have been rotated about a 0.25" more clockwise before they welded it to the flange as it sags about a 0.25" on the left. We tried everything to get it up even with the right side which included twisting the right pipe down as far as it would go along with shimming the hanger on that side with two shims, then pushing up as far as the left pipe would go. The right side is perfect and is where I want it. The left pipe is still too low and uneven. If it wasn't for the fact that it was starting to rain, we would have either drilled out the mounting holes on the left pipe flange to give a little more adjustment, OR break lose the two bolts at the Y-pipe and try twisting the entire mid-pipe system a little clockwise to try and even out the exhaust at the back. So for now, it's as good as it's going to get for right now. It's not all that bad looking, and nowhere near as bad looking as it seems in the last photo. That low angle shot just makes it look worse than it really is. On a much more positive note, it sounds excellent! It sounds the way it should have come from the factory. It's not too loud at all and has a warm, mellow tone throughout the entire rev range and even burbles and pops on deceleration. With that said, it IS a bit louder than expected in the cabin. It resonates and drones quite a bit to the point that it causes a few little rattles and buzzes in the interior plastic panels. So now I have to try and hunt down those rattles and buzzes and damp them, but at least the exhaust now masks that truck engine sound coming through the firewall. http://charlest.zenfolio.com/img/s7/...05368422-5.jpg http://charlest.zenfolio.com/img/s12...59205681-5.jpg |
