I washed, detailed the interior and put some rainex on all the windows. It was a perfect day. Now i am debating on gong for a drive and take some pictures.

Took the long way to grab something at the store and was followed by this sweet looking vert with the Nismo lip kit. I don't think he is on the forum. I also saw a Mcclaren 12c spider, Bentley GT coupe, and a new GT3 porche. Then I arrived home and finished the ride with a quick detail.

many thanks to this forum for the DIY which helped me get rid of that disgusting smell upon opening the A/C

PS - on a sad note though, I did end up breaking the tab to the cabin filter though :(

I have RE-11's on it now. That said I bought them used with the wheels (Volk TE 37 SL) They are a couple years old and may not be as sticky as they were new. They do far better than the stock RE-050 though.

Grassroots Motorsports did a test with RE-11 as the base against both the RE-71R and the Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec

Both were better than the RE-11. They thought the RE-71R may have trouble on heavier cars during track days. I don't do track days but have been active in autox this year. Everyone I have talked to at the autox events has said the RE-71R is great and far better than the RE-11. Wear is going to be a problem if you daily drive it. I will not. I have two sets of rims and will put Michelin PSS on the driving rims.

Hope that helps.

Edit: An error ... The ZII Star Spec was actually third on the list for autox. They matched the BF Goodrich g-Force Rival S up near the top with the RE-71R.

D.Stillwell 09-28-2015 03:35 PM

^^ Yep, WOT only is right. Proper driving lol

Duh

I would be interested to hear any comparisons (now or in the future) you might have in regards to tread wear between the RE-11 and RE-71R :tiphat:

So, I bought the RE-11s used, they are about two years old already. They came with the wheels I bought from a MAZOC member and the rears are almost ready to be changed out when I go them. Not sure how valuable a comparo would be from this. I am not going to dd the 71Rs. However I will keep track of how long they last for autox. Also, we need to recognize that 2014 is the first year I owned the Z and before that I drove things like pickups and low power front wheel drive sedans for ... like ... 30 years. The most fun car I had was a 1968 MGB (oh and the 68 El Camino) that I did autox for a year when I was 20, 40 years ago. I say this because my driving style will be far different and I may or may not be getting a wear level that would be comparable to you driving style.

I'm using the stock Advan that came with my 2015, but considering the POTENZA RE-71R for future replacement, they seem to be better than the advan sport and they cost less!

Looking forward to a DYI on how you hardwire it. I presume that mounting this on a blend mount and tapping into the power at the mirror would work, but seeing as I have a lowly base model, I'll have to run power from the fuse block. I just finished reading that article and I think that's the one I'm going to get.

darkside370z 09-29-2015 12:00 PM

had a busy weekend. installed mag black painted door handles, carbon fiber fangs, full shine auto cf lip kit and of course a fresh wash afterwards

I'll probably just use the 12V plug for a while as I don't have power at my mirror either. I've got a GenTex homelink mirror sitting in my garage for several months now. I will hardwire the dash cam whenever I install the mirror

I should have just made my husband give up his Z and kept mine. It made more sense to have one we could both drive with lower miles.

Fits great. Just make sure the doors clears the fenders before you tighten everything up. I didn't have a problem, but just a precaution

Drove the Z in rain 1st time on hwy today, somehow Ive had it for a month now and never drove in the rain on highway...

Found out what its like to fishtail on hwy while trying to accelerate.

What up with that? Is it the stock tires suck? Or is the Z just extremely tail happy?
