You won't have to reprogram the keys no matter which route you go. Maybe you can buy/borrow ken's spare one, pull the fuse then swap ken's out for your dead one. SideNote: that may or may not work, I haven't heard of anyone doing it that exact way, just a thought.

Hmm, the damn dealer is trying to charge me to reprogram them. That would be a cool idea to swap but might just be a hassle if it doesnt work once I take his spare back out.

It's all about the revision of the ESCL. To my knowledge, there is Rev A, B, C, and D. At some point in 2010, all of the 370Z began getting the Rev D model. The Rev D model is the latest one, and the one that is supposed to be installed for a recall. Before the recall, there were already reports on this forum of the Rev D model going bad. A few people had late 2010 or after models which already had the Rev D, and one guy even had his Rev B replaced with a Rev D, which subsequently failed. It is a bull$hit recall by Nissan.

Your dealer is full of sh!t. Reprogram the keys? Yeah, right - nice way for them to pick your pocket some more...

I bet that your column lock is covered under the recall and the dealer is just trying to get cash out of you. Call a couple of other dealers, or Nissan's Consumer Affairs (I think that's what it's called, an 800 number should be in the Owner's Manual) and see what they say.

If it really isn't covered under the recall, go back to the dealer and pound on the lock and you should be able to release it. After it's been released, drive out of that stealership like a bat out of hell and do as kenchan suggested - pull the fuse or clip the brown wire.

GJ. you see, the best diy's are all done by the kenchan. now pull the fuse or cut brown wire while it works.

kenchan: diy, tools needed are hammer.
