Least I didn't have to pay over $600 for a car a month which allows me to enjoy even more things in life (other toys, track days, vacations etc etc). I have credit cards and a home. I pay interest on everything. Over years and years I may pay a little extra but I have everything I want right now at this very second. For my happiness I'll gladly pay a little extra to keep people in business and over several years to get what I want now.

In my case no. I ended up a little behind on the Z. But many leases I've come out ahead! Ever see a subi resale value??!! Hell my 12 regal GS had a $2000 rebate on it for early turn in.

And you are 100% wrong about a lease turn in! You never actually turn it into the manufacture. At any point in time during a lease you can sell the car no questions asked. You just pay the balance. During the last thirty days you owe nothing and the majority of the time the residual value is the value so you're all good. Hell sometimes it's less so you have equity in the car. So walk into whatever new or used car dealer you want and trade it in. At that point any mods you have or used to have becomes no different than if you tried to sell your car. The trade in is what it is.
That's terrible long term thinking that will absolutely have consequences down the road. Instant gratification has a very real cost, and it adds up over time.

I'll always take paying less over paying more. Every day of the week. If I can't afford the payment without compromising my lifestyle, then I can't afford the car. Especially when you're looking at paying 5-7% more for the same item.

To each his own. Some people gotta have it now. I've stopped working with numerous clients who had this same problem because I can't fix a financial situation with them undermining it like that. I'll pay more now and retire early.

Sorry OP, we've gotten way, way off track.

chuck33079 i read your comments and it looks like you know everything out there, maybe because you have many posts out here, but you are totally wrong on lease vs. finance, when i get a chance ( which i have better things in life to do than be here make thousands of comments) i be glad to show you that A GOOD LEASE PROGRAM could be as good or sometimes better than financing, not everyone wants to modified cars and not everyone wants to pay 600 a month payment and not everyone has 10k+ to put down, and some people work hard and want to drive a nice luxury car, there is nothing wrong with that.
since you live in houston, maybe one day we can discuss leasing and financing over a coffee!

you're on the wrong forum if you want to discuss not modding a car.....just saying.

also if a $600/month payment is a issue then you're obviously looking for something out of your price range and need to move on.

leases are for house wifes who dont care what they drive and you just keep them happy with a new car every 24 months or so.

So at the end of the GOOD LEASE PROGRAM do you own the car? Point out what I said that was inaccurate. Your argument is "not everyone wants to pay 600 a month payment and not everyone has 10k+ to put down, and some people work hard and want to drive a nice luxury car"?

Exactly what I would expect from a guy who works at a car dealership.

no i don't own the car at the end of 36 month lease and if you finance the car for 60 months you don't own it till end of 60 months!!
figure it out
36 monthsX 400 a month lease
36 monthsX 600 a month finance
see what you have saved
then 24 more months of 600 a month left
then you own the car
not counting extra maintenance you need to do for extra 24 months!
do the calculation, i don't have time!

Why wouldn't you use the same term note as the lease to make the numbers comparable? Not everyone wants a 5 year note. And "not owning the car at the end of the lease" isn't the same as "Not owning the car until the end of the note".

Oh, wait, you're a car salesman. You have a vested interest in playing games with numbers.

Lol Im not financing the federal government. I bought a car and a house. Didn't have cash for either. Its not a big deal I have 2 loans. I'm not instantly gratifying myself with with everything I see. I'm saving $200 a month on a car. That means I pay cash for car parts, track days, savings account etc. you can't tell me your first home was not 30 years. If it was congrats! You don't have one credit card? If you have or had either then you're a hypocrite. I don't think being 30 and needing a home is jumping the gun to buy a house. And what we can afford comfortably was 30 years.

That's you. Congrats for doing that. It's not me. I don't need a $600 car payment. Nothing's wrong with my life style. I had the WRX and the GS the same time at over $1000 a month for everything like insurance etc. I'm doing fine now and I'm happy to be really saving more than $200 a month on this 1 car. PS the wife drives and pays for the merc now.
