The shadiest of mechanics (one who is illegally in the US) quoted me $400, and a full day's labor.

Once he starts wrestling with getting the stock headers and cats out, that quoted price will double. The only way I could ever see shorty headers being worth it is if I was willing to DIY the job.

Exactly what I mean. There isn't the room to do it easily. Hell, Baker Tuning in Houston drops the motor because it's easier, LOL!

THIS. Honestly Stoney, it's your money or your parents money (I really don't know whose or care to know) we are just trying to help you out as much as possible. If you're hell bent on the stillen/berk setup, go for it. Just prepare yourself for the terrible money-power ratio.

Yep. It's a bitch of a job for very little return. That labor cost is better spent somewhere else. Buy a set of 4.08 gears instead.

Plus, gears would fly under the radar. The car won't look or sound any different so no one but you would know it had been done.

See what z1 recommends. You can call or do it over their website.

If you haven't even graduated high school (I'm presuming) and you have a 370z, I consider you to be very lucky my friend. Don't screw it up.

There's lots of information on this site about upgrading. You should take some time and read through some posts in the Engine and Drivetrain section. Putting a little time and effort into modifying your car is necessary so you don't end up with a bad set up.

Here is some information about the Z1 Headers that will put you in the right direction:

Didn't mean to post the same thing. I got all A.D.D and started doing something else and came back to finish my post. Apparently you wrote the same thing as me... heh
