When I first got the car my initial thoughts where the ride is smoother than the 350 despite the stiffer suspension. And the road noise was about the same. But lately, I haven't been listening to the radio, instead I've been listening to the sweet noise the HFC's make. But now, I think the 370 definitely has more road noise(most likely due to bigger wheels and tires).

The tire noise... I will tell you right now bridgestones are noisy. I have a G37s, a altima 3.5 and I rent a Z on weekends sometimes from a sports & exotic car rental company. My cars and the rentals equipped with the Bstones are noisy. The altima is up for replacement and I am going to put michelin pilot sport a/s runflats on the car. They should make my altima perform better as well be quieter. Thinking of putting some lightweight 18x8 rims on it, drop n sway. Anyway, point is. Bstones are a mediocre tire.

wow lol.. if yall think the 370z is loud. you need to atleast walk around a v8 from time to time.... even with test pipes and no mufflers the 350 nor the 370z is that loud. i personally can barely even hear my 370z unless im going wot. then again i drove a ls1 with headers/bullet mufflers so my definition of loud is alittle different

define "ride".
the stock 370z drive-ability is more refined. my friends who have a 350 were surprised with the overall smoothness of the vehicle. Sometimes.....i even doze off (danger danger! thank God still alive) and start drifting.... ugh..too tired these days. there are those who say the "ride" is rough because of the transmission. with my auto i notice the vehicle sometimes acting a bit rough as the car is slowing down to a red traffic light. mainly due to the transmission downshifting through the gears. others complain about the roughness of the manual shifting during the vehicles infant days...eventually it goes away (or something like that). define "loud" can't really argue against the road noise complaint. I've driving mercedes and toyotas in the past and hell yeah, its loud. Especially in the rain....you can hear the water like crazy... Jeremy Clarkson even made a point about noise in Top Gear. but! the stock oem and nismo exhaust are extremely quiet compared to the 350z. imo, Nissan FAILED on this. but that's just me. It's okay. I'll just get a louder one. but at the end of the day you know you buy a 370z for its raw-ness and brute power...which normally don't come with comfort and quietness. *edit* just realized how old this post was.....lol Last edited by litesky; 10-26-2010 at 07:52 PM. I also agree that the g37 coupe is not better in all ways than the g35 coupe... Interior Design is the one and only thing that I think the g37 has over the G35... The g37 is heavy and rides really nice yes, but the performance is really hindered by its extra weight. Stock for Stock the a 2005 G35 Sport looks nicer imo than the 09 g37s.
But the 370z isnt all that loud compared to the 350 but the interior noise is definatly more than the average car Id say.

Is it loud? It depends on the person. My parent thought it was loud and uncomfortable. I didnt think so. So I put in an intake, hfc and an hks exhaust. Wonder what would they think after I put in some coilover. LOL

Here is my take on the noise factor..
The engine is as quiet as a mouse most of the time except when you floor it and then you hear those mighty horses roar..Its all around wonderful. Engine noise is not the problem for me.. for me its the noise of the tires on the road which is really, really unpleasant. You have to talk loud to be heard by someone sitting right next to you and it really detracts from the enjoyment of the ride not to mention the radio. Of course a lot depends on the road but i have to say this is one area where I give a rating of Very Unsatisfactory.. but the good news seems to be that it can be fixed. I went to a car audio installation store the other day and they say they do this sound dampening all the time. In this case involves placing some kind of sound dampening material in the rear. Its going to cost $700 for material and labor which I am not happy about. However, if this works, and I have every confidence it will, and I get the road noise down to a reasonable level, it will be worth every penny and I will confidently state that the Nissan 370z is the greatest car in the world! Beautiful style, excellent performance and a fun factor that is off the charts!! I feel like a kid at Christmas!! I will let you know how things go. They operate next Monday Nov 1st. |
