Before buying the 370z I had a Mercedes, and oil change on the C320 cost 3 times more than that of the 370z. I would have to think oil change on a Porsche 911 has to cost a lot more than a MB C320.

But if money is no object then go for the 911. GL with your decision

To be honest, while your young(I assume), get the nismo while you can and save money for a NEW 911 turbo later. You don't wanna do the backwards unless you decide to pass up the Nismo. I don't see many older fellas drove Nismo on the road they usually rock the Porsche. You still have plenty of time to get a Porsche.

I vote Nismo. Seriously fun car to drive. There's something special about being the first owner of a car as well. You know everything this car has been through with no hidden surprises. I'm sure most Porches are well taken care of by their original owners, but who knows, right?

OP, if you are asking this question in a Z forum, you know you already want the 911 but you are trying to find out a good reason not to get it.

You won't go wrong if you take a good test drive and buy the one that feels the best to you. Also, test drive at more than one dealer of each. That way you get a chance to check various options that you may like and get some competitive prices. Watch the dealers as they often start with similar prices, hoping to land a sucker. Also, dealers in various cities are sometimes located in different regions with a difference in price. Most importantly, ask around about the service you can expect from each. If I could afford both and had the opportunity to own both, I would probably still drive my z... I've had it for almost a year and I still love driving it everyday...... It's like fun ride everyday and sometimes I just can't wait to get off work and drive home in it lol

Are you looking at a 2011 Nismo serial # 191? I just traded my Nismo.... a big sacrifice I had to do for the family

Don't buy anything. Leave your money in the bank and keep saving till you hit $108,000 and can afford a 911. Then you can ask yourself. Porsche 911 or down payment on a 911 turbo?

But if you're gonna buy right now. The Nismo makes more sense.

Sorry, too lazy to verify. But you're referring to a 996 911, correct? Not really my favorite Porsche but still superior than a Nismo--especially a Carrera S.

However, I voted 911, well, because I'm partial to Porsche. Though, it depends on the model. If I could afford it, a '98 993 911 Turbo would be my choice. I don't mind the 996 models, but would stray away from a Carrera unless it was a 4S.

It's a tough call honestly. I just grabbed this 2012 sport, was considering older 911 as option myself. Dad has a 2006/8? 911 S

I think you would be happy with either one. I would say get the nismo-but I'm partial.

You can't go wrong either way. As some have suggested, I would avoid the older models with the IMS issues. Have you test driven them both? It's hard not falling in love with a P car once you've driven one. I should know, I have a 981 Boxster on order. The Z is a good all around performer its affordable, decent interior quality, great styling both inside and out, and drives like a real sports car. But it leaves something to be desired once you've driven a Porsche, but that's just my opinion. You'll have a smile on your face no matter which one you end up with. But if you ask me, 911 all the way.

First off the 370 Nismo ought to be just as fast as a 996 or 997 on a straight. This is my experience at the track. I just saw the 991S in action on Saturday at Laguna Seca. I say buy the Nismo now and in 4-5 years buy the 2013 911S. This is what I am thinking myself. The car is just amazing.
