Default Nismo or 911

For probably the last year I have been saving up and getting ready to purchase, after tons of research on both cars. It really comes down to either a 2011 Nismo or like a 05/06 911. The only thing holding me back is the fear that the porsche will be to expensive to maintain. I absolutely love the way the Nismo looks but still hanging on to that childhood dream of owning a porsche. What do you all think? Great Forum by the way!

I'd go with the Nismo, newer and cheaper to maintain

911 is older and will be expensive to maintain without warranty, but it is the better car. Faster, more refined, and more prestigious.

The Z is the better value proposition though.

If you get a 997, try to find an '06 or newer due to the updated IMS bearing. I've seen a few CPO 997 models for $43-45k, but I'd prefer a 997S...which go for about $5-7k more in comparable condition to a base.

Yeah. I was looking into 997S and 996TTS, but decided to stick it out with my car. Good luck on your search...they are amazing cars! My 2 best friends have a modded 996TT with the x50 package and the other has a highly modded 997TT. The looks are subjective, but they are great all around cars.

Are you looking for a weekend car or a dd?

I would do the Nismo for a DD, but if you're looking for a toy car then go with the Porsche.

depending on how old you are, unless you're like 70 or something with one foot in the coffin, get the nismo cause im thinking you still have a while to achieve your ultimate goal without killing yourself for maintenance costs in the mean time.

911s really aren't that expensive to maintain. I know several porsche mechanics and not only is the maintenance comparable to most other cars, but they often don't need a lot of work since they're so well engineered.

I'd take the 911! Nismos are great, but 911s are a polished Z with better road feel.
