[Official] What's the Best Radar Detector?

Old thread and time has marched on since the original post; new detectors, new options and opinions.
I always figured the V1 was the only one to get.
You just can't beat the V1 with its 'bogey counter', the arrows are secondary but helpful, but the V1 falses a ton apparently. They have their own way of getting 'around' that now and still say the V1s bogey counter is unmatched.
OTOH, I want to remain open minded so I'm also looking at the Escort Max and the Escort Redline. Using either of these two let me mount it real cleanly under the RV mirror wired into the Homelink power connector. Done.
To mount and power the V1 and it's remote display (and Savvy, their false go around) is a pain by comparison. Goodbye simple connection to the mirror.

Anyone with Escort Redlines or Escort Max with prior V1 ownership (or vice versa) that can comment definatively on the pros and cons of them?

I would not be using the GPS abilities of either of the Escorts, at least not in the forseeable future, but a simple, clean install is really appealing as long as they are effective out in the real world.
