Oh I know, I never would. I understand the value of carbon fiber (I used to race R/C cars that were nearly full carbon fiber), I just can't justify the expense even though the value is up there.
Same reason why I did my own headlights instead of sending them to CiNcity to be done. Last edited by Caravanshaka; 07-05-2009 at 12:22 PM. |

I think the price is incredibly fair, unfortunately I can't do it right now, but in a couple months when I have some things paid off I will probably be looking to do this, as well as the front license plate, the B pillars (do you guys have those in the works?), and maybe a rear license plate area. I think the CF would look great on the yellow. If only there was a way to make the door handles out of CF.

What iss the point of this? It is just for looks. You are paying money for raising the centre of gravity on your cars. If you ask me it is a waste of money. Now if it was replacing the roof as in an M3 then yes great, but I imagine it would cost a heck of a lot more dosh.

Look, I'm very much in the "functional" crowd, but give these guys a break on the looks stuff. If you didn't care about the looks of your new 370Z, you could've built up a nice track (or street) performer for less money on an older and crappier platform, many options exist. It's hard to say anyone bought the brand new 370Z without any regard to how the vehicle they're driving looks.

I'm more into go than I am into show but once the 370 becomes as common place as the 350, I would consider this. It's a nice looking piece.

Sometimes I wish those who feel compelled to design add-ons would think things through so whatever it is they design has some kind of good reason to be made and has some true added-value in functionality or performance. This thing does neither. Instead it actually distracts from the 370's natural design beauty

Many of their parts are going to be functional aero parts. Just so happens that they are starting with a few easier overlay pieces to get warmed up with their molds. |

I'm really dont' know to much about carbon fiber other than being light in weight.
What did you mean by it won't last very long? Will the fibers start coming off? Also what is the weight difference between the carbon and the aluminum roof? My last question is, I talked about on this forum about carbon engine hoods. Someone said that sometimes companies don't use "100%" carbon fiber and it's a fiber glass hood with some carbon fiber sheet overlay or something to that nature.

also, not lasting long is just the way it could have been made. not a big difference in weight from aluminum and CF...but there is a savings none the less. i've heard of fiberglass with CF wrapped on it too. |

But I don’t think I said it wont last long and if I did I apologize. I said it does not last for every just like anything else you put on a car. This should last as long as a paint job because its been proven that if you wash, polish, and wax this piece (because it is clear coated) along with the rest of your car it will last as long as you take care of it. If you never wash, wax, or polish your cars paint job itl only last a few years before it starts to noticeably fade. So if you take care of the part just like you normally would of your car. Itl last as long as you own it. Not only that its covered with a life of your car warranty. |
