Why are reviewers so hard on the z?

They are probably referring to oil consumption when they talk engine failures. The transmission has been a major issue for Nissan for quite a while. Steering lock issues certainly don't

Steering lock issues certainly don't help the reliability ratings either.

I think if you are taking your "which car to buy" advice from MSN, something is wrong, though.

Unless it is a major magazine or publication. These morons that write for the online blogs and other "auto-news" just copy what they read they don't do any tests and these DB's don't know a thing about cars, and they are failed writers. They get paid to do as little as possible when coming up with intelligent commentary about automobiles. I trust Motor Trend, Top Gear, and a few major mags. Yet most are paid extra today to give good write ups for crappy cars and are now biased.

If you guys think journalists are tough on the 370Z, you should be glad you don't own a Corvette.

Ouch.

I had to take a gigantic poo on the way home today

did the 0-60 in about 4.7 seconds, no transmission issue
redlined every single gear, no oil starvation/overheating
drifted around 3 corners at about 1.00 g, no LSD problem
reversed into my garage at about 35mph, no visibility issues
on the way running into my house a hot chick walking her dog past my house said "wow.. really nice car."

within 6 mins every aspect of the perfect sports car was tested. my huge poo made way for a legitimate 'real world' test of our Z's.. and mine passed with flying colours.

so screw all the haters. Z-fanboy errrrrrday. (gangsta)

I'm convinced that most of the reviewers out there are incapable of accurately reviewing sports cars. When I was doing research before I bought my Z most of the negative reviews make minor issues sound much worse than they really are. Like the engine tones- most reviews claimed that the car makes horrific growls. Personally, I like the way my car sounds. I also happen to disagree with the cars that Consumer Reports and Edmunds rated as the best in class. One of them ranked the Challenger as a top pick. I had the misfortune of driving one the other day, and in my biased opinion I was confused on how it got the title of sports car. It handles worse than a mini van, was the size of a small tank, and felt like it had less power than the Charger. And it was ranked better than the Z?

The magic envelope makes everything possible. I bet with the right dough a bicycle can even top the Z.

i agree, who cares what the everyone else says. if you want a car. preferably a SPORTS car. get it if you want it and like it.

if you dont want this this this and this happening, well then buy the things that prevent it ( Oil Cooler exc) i bought the car purely off of " i want a sports car, i love the feel and the way the 370z looks, THATS my car." other's there are other sports cars out there, but for the money i paid/am paying for it being a SPORTS car, i wanted it to not only have power but LOOK the part. i test drove a mustang v8 with 417 hp and yea it had the power but it didnt have that "look"....... if you know what i mean..... theres a certain look and feel a sports car has when you get in one or see one that lets you know yea thats a sports car...... and for the price the Z was it for me. i bought my car solely of out " i want a sports car. a car with a look and feel of a sports car." Z was fate for me lol

I agree! I've got about $1200 in upgrades in mine and have everything taken care of except for the most extreme race situation. Granted oil cooler is a little week but car didn't go over 230 all summer.

For me, I'd rather put 1.2k in upgrades rather than pay an extra 20- 30k for the car.

Honestly, they're not targeting the 370Z. It's their honest opinion and their job.

The 370Z is not perfect, but we love them and that is all that matters.

Or maybe they're not paid up the wazhoo like Ford and Toyota to like certain cars.

I mean, the only thing Nissan advertise the Z about is their "win this car" brochures and "go from a Z to a Maxima when you have a family" commercial.

I think maybe the 370z looks better than it drives. I thought this was true of the Nismo after test-driving it. Good rather than Great.

I think that just how it is in reality. Great things or people will always get pick on by haters. Just like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. Easily should be consider two of the all time great players ever play the game of basketball. But will always get negative comments said about them.

I'm pretty sure the reviewers are not "hating" on the Z... They just don't like it and we are obviously bias.
