I woke up too late to register for AutoX yesterday but I still made it to support my pals. Unfortunately it was like a hurricane there with tons of rain. They still raced thru it.

Ugh today. Went to pop the hood and broke the hood release. Called Nissan. 45 dollars for the part and then they estimated 70 dollars for installation!!!!! I'll be installing it myself. Also, I can't order the part over the phone so have to drive across town to order the part then go back when it comes in.

did the leverage point break? it happened to mine a while back when i was trying to remove that bottom cover under the steering column. i fixed the hood release using a washer and zip tie. if that is wat happened to yours...

if you go under there, you will see that the cable just leverages near the hinge point. if you can lock that part down, the assembly will work again. so for me, the fix was like $0.25 and 15-20min trying to figure it out.

I wish it was that easy. The actual plastic part broke completely off where the wire connects to the release. Just ripped the center of the release out. Big gaping hole now. Need to replace the entire plastic release handle portion.

Can you take some photos? We might be able to help with engineering a solution to save you some money?

Also I might be able to just sell you mine for cheap? I'm ditching the cable/latches for hoodpins.

Drove her to work. Lately I've been staying off the toll road to save money but the road I usually cut across is now just grooved pavement. I wonder if I can bill the city for the tire wear I'm sure I'm encountering. That damn road has been grooved for about a week now.

Then they'll put asphalt on it and really make a mess of your Z. You might want to reconsider the pay road.

Sigh. Yeah, I think I'll just leave earlier in the AM now and take a longer route in. :/

Took a drive to the Lakeland Nissan dealer I bought my Z from today. I've done a little bit of gun work for the salesman, Jason, that sold me my Z. While I was there I got up close and personal with a 2014 GT-R. Awesome car! I tried not to touch to much. I didn't want to break anything. The rear spoiler alone costs $10,000.

I asked "test drive?

Jason said that he'd never got to drive one. He said one of the big wigs at the dealership has a GT-R as a daily driver, and he's never had it over 60 MPH! He was serious!

While we were talking he was telling me about a white Z that was sitting in the parking area that had exhaust pipes out the back that didn't look right. A gray haired older lady came out and Jason asked if that was he car. She said it was. About that time an older man came out walking to the passenger side to get in. She started the car and he said that was the best sounding exhaust he had ever heard on a Z. He tapped on the window and asked what exhaust it was. She said "Fast Intensions"! Jason has a Z so I assume that'll be in it's future.

Drove home. Went to the store first and picked up about 1/2 pound of rum soaked, honey coated salmon for lunch. It was !

So I drove the Z to work today, first time since getting new wheels/ tints and a super deep glossy shine courtesy of Wolfgangs deep gloss sealant spritz (stuff is magical).

Any who, the crowd went wild, most compliments ive gotten since ive owned her. Also noticed a lot more heads turning to check her out as I drove past.

Luv this car!
