@rockcrawler thanks for the money pit advice
maybe this will help with the progress of either build. Looking at spending 50-65k out the door. Everything i'm about to type is just me relaying it to the board not sure if there is very much validity to it until i meet them and hand them a check with some form of guarantee in hand I have spoken withe a few rotary guys that will back a 600hp rotor but the engine cost alone is 25-30k. now i know i can pick up an 09 Z and go to GTM or Z1 and put 25-30k in it and have a 700 HP monster - question is will that be similar in quickness with much higher reliability. yes i understand that when there is that much work reliability is always a subjective term. |

I'm just having trouble grasping the concept of having one of the quickest cars in the world and wanting to get the baby version and dump 30k into it.

For the OP, honestly if you are doing an engine swap (2J/RB/LSx) I would consider the RX7 but I would not drop the money if you are not going that road. The 370z is a great platform to work with, but you are going to drop 25k on engine/upgrades and then you will need to do suspension, brakes and tires.

Also bear in mind that the power levels you are talking are very much a stretch for the stock transmission, especially if you are talking high speed pulls. 4th and 5th struggle heavily if you spend a lot of time makin pulls there. |

Turn the GT-R into the AMS Alpha Omega and be done. See you everyone else and thanks for playing. ![]() Plus if you want something to just throw around the back roads it is simple. Get a Lotus Exige and dual charge it and be done. It doesn't get more fun than that.

i saw the lotus dual charge - any clue on builders / costs?
as for the GTR it is such a pretty car stock - i kinda want to keep it as is - since its a 2012 and all that jazz yes the RX 7 build would be a 20B - 3 rotor engine swap with custom 6 speed tranny. My builder has a straight frame which is being donated to the build if i go that route. engine would be the 20B with custom tranny and then its the Fortune kit and coil overs etc. the last one he built like this weighed in at 2600 lbs - i know the lotus can beat it :-P such fun decisions |

Yea but you would need to be on the West Coast. But hey you could probably get it freighted there in back if you were willing to pay 13k on a veilside kit for the RX-7. Never priced the lotus out out and don't think the guy who owns the first one tells how much money he has in it. You would be out $40k +- for platform alone with the Exige. More if you want a newer model. You would have to decide where the cutoff is on what you want to spend on car + mods and then research it and see what platforms are available. It seems you have limited it to the Z and RX. But is that because that is what you want and falls within your budget or have you researched other possibilities? I would get on lotustalk and see if maybe there is someone closer that could build one.
