You press and let go.... it won't start

So you press and hold.... it won't start

You press and let go then press and hold..... it won't start

==> Steering Lock Failure.....

I just press until I hear the car starting and then let go. Sometimes if I press the button too quickly it doesn't activate, but at the same time I don't like to hold it longer than necessary.

Press and release just like on a keypad. Never had a start failure.

The proximity sensor on my car really blows... sometimes I have to hold it for a second to make sure it recognizes the key.

I'm sort of wondering if you don't have your "battery saver switch" in? There's a couple fuses that the dealer leaves popped out so the battery doesn't go dead. Among the functions is the intelligent key "always searching" (i.e. the way it should work is the car is always looking for the fob, and it will have already found it once you walk up and by the time you press the button it's already authenticated, vs the battery saving function where it never searches until you press the button, then it goes through all that which takes some time), the air conditioning memory, and the intelligent key chime. Do you get a chime when you unlock the doors with the request switch?

I'm a valet and just about every single newer model vehicle is either push start or just flick the key and release. It actually annoys me to have to hold the button down during the whole process instead of just pressing an releasing. New range rovers are one of the few newer vehicles with push start that require you to hold the button the whole time instead of just pressing and releasing, they need to step their game up

On my Challenger, you have to hold the button down while the engine cranks. It doesn't do it on it's own. However in my Z I just press and let go.

Guys... How many times do we have to go over this? Print this and leave it on your dashboard for when you get into the car...

Never really checked to be honest... I don't have Nav so my AC controls don't change. I do have a chime when I open and close the doors with the outside button (horn with the keypad). Worth looking into.
