Press and Hold or Press and Let Go?

I've been seeing that many people start their 370z holding the push start button down. Why is that? I have always just press the button and let go of it. My car still starts perfectly fine. Enlighten me.

Probably a carry over for anyone accustomed to using a key.

Sometimes I hold, sometimes I press and let go. Depends on if I am multitasking.

Works either way, I live my life 1/4 mile at a time and can't waste precious seconds holding some button that I can just press instead.

i thought the push button looked like an elevator button so i just push and release.

I would just press the button my Z. On the 5.0 I just have to flick the key, no need to hold. Same with the CLK500. The S2000 I actually have to hold the button down, though. SO CONFUSING.

Along the same lines...

Is the cranking over 'manufactured' to sound cool? I know that most of my recent cars have started up a heck of a lot quicker than the Z with just a turn of the key. Almost feels to me like they pull the spark or something the first few revolutions to get it to sound like that. Anyone know?

GMTraitor and I were talking about this over the weekend. His Maxima fires up a lot quicker than any of the Z's do with the same push button type start.

couple times I've just pressed lightly, it wasn't enough, car didn't turn, so I seem to press and hold for one second
