That's an awesome video.... So what's better, a GT-R or a Shelby GT500 ?

Whichever one makes you happiest! GT-R is still the king of affordable supercars, but the new GT500 is very impressive.

Can't wait to start seeing some (road) track times roll in. Really wish Ford would release their Nurburgring testing #s. I want to see how much it spanked the ZL1 by.

+1.......... :iagree: I would take the Ford GT500 any day of the week & twice on Sunday over the Chevy Camaro ZL1.

I just can't grasp that the GT500 is 2 HP short of doubling the 370z

Just cannot stand to see another Camaro. To me they look no better than the 1982 version.

That's why they won't release it because it got spanked by the ZL1:happydance:

OK have to chime in. Until you drive either the ZL1 or GT500 I don't know how you can post an unbiased opinion. All I have to say is who except GM and Ford are offering what amounts to factory produced race cars with plates for under $60,000. Is it possible to mod your 370Z for $20,000 and compete with them? I don't know. To get reliable 580hp and more on "factory" engines will be hard to match. Also the electromagnetic suspension on the ZL1 you cannot duplicate with a 370Z. Sure you can set up a full coilover setup for a track but the ZL1 can go from track to track with no adjusting by the driver other than setting the selector to track. As for which is faster the Ford or Chevy I'd say that it comes down to the track. Ford has more hp and smaller reargear which should mean at a very big track with top speeds being able to be hit it may win. Chevy with the bigger gear and independant rear should take a tight course where you need to pull out of tight corners. I hope to post times from Watkins Glen next year with my ZL1 and compare with other times. I'm not a pro racer just the average joe. :driving:

I can only imagine what those new GT500s and the Camaro ZL1 feel like when they pull. My dad owned a 2010 GT500 when it had "only" 500hp. I drove it many times, and that thing is nothing less than a monster when you hit full boost on the supercharger. If I had the money, I definately would have gotten a new gt500 and im not even a huge mustang fan due to everyone having one lol But with the upgrades to the new ones with suspension and everything and like its been said, the magnetic shocks on the camaro, there isnt much touching these cars even on tracks with turns now lol

Even on a track the weight of the Camero isn't gonna help. It's brakes, suspension and engine are all going to need to over come the inertia going into and out of every curve.

Basically what Camero supporters tend to believe is that it is a for gone conclusion that the ZL1 is better in the corners. The Boss held it own in a head to head against a ZL1 losing by 2 seconds on a track even with 140 less HP. The GT500s suspension is improved and it has 82 more HP than the ZL1. I think ZL1 fans are gonna be surprised as they watch the GT500 pull away from start to finish.

Camaro owners will be saddened indeed. The next Z needs a F.I. package...
