I'm sure someone will do a comparo soon with the ZL1 and GT500.

ZeeingAround 06-05-2012 08:28 AM

The new GT500 (2013) would be the only new car that I would consider presently to trade in the Z for. I may wait for the new NSX and see what that brings to the table.

Lemers 06-05-2012 08:28 AM

Yes now that the GT500s are almost out. I don't think it will matter though. The loosing camp will try to discredit the results. With excuses like no a different track the results would be different or the weather favored a certain car. That's before they even through mods in.

One of my co-workers who is a huge Mustang fan told me one of the GT500 engineers was caught stated they never looked at the ZL1, they went straight to the real competition (apparently the guy pointed at a Z06 that was at the track). Of course no one at Ford is ever going to confirm this was true or not.

Yup. At least here the enthusiasts usually chime in and shut any fanboys up. Over there... no way. :icon17:

Well here is a dyno video. Honestly, no comparison to be honest...

2013 Shelby GT500 vs 2013 Camaro ZL1 Dyno Comparison Video ? Inside Line - YouTube

100 more HP is pretty significant! The 2013 is simply a best! Makes my measly 540HP GT500 seem like a lame pony!

Mine put down 511RWHP stock (mine is closer to 560HP crank) and honestly, any more would make this car spin up worse than it already does. I do wish my car had the 2013's traction control though! I cannot complain, 1st/2nd are essentially useless but up top the car is a beast! I could always throw on some M/T's but I won't because then I'll get myself into trouble :rofl2: I am going to put on Nitto 555's once I wear the factory tires down.

While awesome it will likely pack a price tag north of $100k... this thing is going to be aimed at the Audi R8, Aston, 911 turbo market

Hi guys. Nope not the ban me C5 forum. LOL It is moderncamaro.com. m4 as you know I welcome the GT500 comparo. I think you should get one and we can play on the Dragon next year. Only thing is that we both need to stay on the road. Using the green area is illegal, oh and dangerous. Does make for a good pic though.

m4a1mustang 06-05-2012 10:43 AM

Don't be jealous of my superior grass grip skillz!

BTW, both cars would be useless on the Dragon. I'd rather bring my S2000. :icon17:

OK then you can come up to the Glen and play  :driving:

I'm sorry $100k is too far out of my price range.

$55k is hard to swallow, but doable.

Double?? For the r8 it will be more than that. The one that was at Carlisle for the show was $175,000.
