your going to be waiting a while... Report: 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 production halted

It's nowhere near 3.5 to sixty. If you manage lower than low fours I will be surprised.

Well considering the ZL1 recorded 3.8 0-60 a 3.5 isn't that far fetched at all. With slicks I'd guarantee it would run 3.5 or better. There's NO reason to think it couldn't considering its power to weight ratio.

Low 4's? Please...

Fast car if muscle type is what you are looking for, for me I'll take less HP as I like the style of the Z better and it's way lighter, still would be on your a$$ at the track in corners, just would pull away at the straights..;)

Best I saw was a 4.1 with car and driver, and they cut off the roll out, so more like 4.3. Worst was 4.7 by road and track.

Sounds like shitty driving to me.

Not really, corvette is about 1,000# lighter, and has around 150bhp less and still only manages 3.95 in gm's most cooked tests. Noone has ever equalled them in oem configuration. I highly doubt the zl1 does 0-60 within 0.2 of the zr1. Not happening.

I still stand by shitty driving. I'd love to see 60' times for these slow 0-60 runs so we can see how badly the testers (or conditions) suck.

I've heard bad things about the Camaro's build quality. Steered me away.

Nothing wrong with the build quality. It's built in the number one most productive and best quality plant in North America.

I don't think so...

I seen a 12' camaro SS. Interior is ramped up a lot. It definately has improved over the 10's & 11's I've driven. The external build quality is very good. As far as engine reliabilty. 2 of my camaro SS rentals have broken down on me. But that can be from rent-a-car abuse. Either way, I feel renting a car and it breaking down is proof that maybe the camaro folds if driven hard???

That said... I still think the camaro is a GORGEOUS car. Its the best looking rendering between the muscle car group. The revamped interior looks better than I thought it could. Torque response in a camaro feels stronger than a mustang even though the mustang ends up being faster... I'm sure the corvette suspension gives theZL1 an edge and right now this second... I'm sure it can give mustang something to fear. The lowest I seen on the ZL1 camaro was this or last months C&D. That was 3.9 seconds.

The extra 900 lbs on a camaro to a vette is meh to me. Camaro engineers really should find 300lbs to chop off. But I say, if you have a chance to buy what is going to be the rarest camaro out there? Go for it. The Z is awesome but its a different type of motorsports car so be sure that driving too fast of a car as a DD won't bore the shyt outta you.

Good luck man... you have good taste.

:iagree:

The Z was beaten on the track by the camaro even in 2010 with the SS. The ZL-1 holds some type of record I can't recall now on the nurburgring. There's no way a Z is winniing on a track on the camaro. The ZL1 camaro could probably beat us with ONLY 3 wheels on the car.
