happytheman 03-08-2012 03:35 PM

the heatsheilds are effective on the R2C. and fitment/craftsmanship is very good.

but i think you will end up with my setup which is drop-ins and post MAF tubes...or just drop-ins. the gain is just not enough to cover the noise imho.

Hey guys, got a dummy question, what does that 'resonator' do?? That extra pendant at the center...

happytheman 03-08-2012 03:45 PM

Helps the Z reproduce! :rofl2:

Edit: in all seriousness, it's to tone the exhaust note to a more manageable level.

kenchan 03-08-2012 03:45 PM

mr.alcheng- basically resonators generate a specific acoustic frequency which cancels out by more resonating by the muffler. so you dont get drone or any low frequency noise that dont sound good inside the cabin. :) also helps combustion as well.

Dang, Mr. Enlightenment. More than half the stuff I do around the house is what may be considered "skirt work". I have yet to wear one when vacuuming, although I thought about donning a loincloth whilst scrubbing floors a time or two.

So that "pendant" goes into the rear fog-light-slot???

Man it feels good to be "motoring" my Z. I LOVE THIS CAR!!! It chaps my azz that there are so many negative things said about the 370. Its really a great machine and my modifications have only made it that much better! It just feels amazing to drive and the attention it generates could rival a Ferrari, I swear. Yesterday was the first time out in it in awhile and, no lie, everywhere I went people felt compelled to comment on her:tup: I even had the guy that owns the deli near my place of employment (a Corvette Grand Sport owner) fawning over my Z. Im gonna leave a issue of Nissan Sport mixed in with his Vette magazines next time Im there:bowrofl: Today I had some youngster driving with his cell phone out either video taping me or taking pics. I swear this thing boosts the sh1t outta my ego, "like it needs it" as my girlfriend would say:icon17:

 wife and i both work full time. i do most of the cleaning, bills, and maintenance around the house and the wife does the grocery shopping, maintaining house computer/network system, cooking, and helping kids with their homework 90% of the time. :)

in return i get 100% of the garage, one dedicated room for my music stuff, she gets a dedicated office in the house, 90% of the basement for her hobbies and manga library, excersise equipment.

no complaints here. :p

they work together as a system to cancel out noise to make the particular tone for your exhaust system so it's hard to say which is louder. it's more of a cancellation system if you know wat i mean. if you ever fired up a car with no resonators or muffler you will know how loud your car really is. hahaha. :D

Oh my beloved Z gets tons of attention, too. Over the weekend, a dude complimented it and told me he just took a picture of it to text to his friend. He was drooling over it. Whether you guys know it or not, you own a very sexy car.

TheGreatOne 03-08-2012 04:59 PM

I received my guage overlay today...so one more thing to add to my "get done" list next week for when I roll the car out

Crossing fingers on a deal for some Motordyne ART pipes for a guy who "might" part out :)

ZZAPPED 03-08-2012 05:58 PM

Had the 3M venturashield installed today. Front, headlights, hood, A-pillars, fenders, door edges, rear trunk lift area. $650. Looks good and I hope it holds up!

Those two pictures are from Top Speed, which is what I am looking at right now, and one is with the resonator, which is the one with that pendant.

The price is about my range and the sound is quite good.

Thank you for the explanation Mr.kenchan

The reason why I want to understand what is the difference is I don't want to have a loud exhaust note from my car, sometimes I would like to enjoy the audio system or having conversation in the cabin. :icon17:

kenchan 03-08-2012 06:44 PM

mr.alcheng- yah, i dont like loud exhausts either. it just makes it too noisy and tiring after a while...especially after the honeymoon period.

ordered up a couple of cleaning supplies and clay from griots tonight. :D

so far weather looks pretty good for Sat. :excited: might even get to motor my Z on Sun. woooooot!

Baer383 03-08-2012 06:53 PM

I took my Z out for a ride to burn off some gas(need to be below 1/4)so I can remove my fuel pump for my F.I.
