brucelidat 03-28-2012 12:20 AM

Got a ticket for not having my front plate. Got it while the car was parked also, came out to go get lunch and there it was. Cops with nothing better to do...

Fire 03-28-2012 12:22 AM

I never ran a front plate on my Vette. I actually couldn't find it to turn in when I sold it. I worried a few times about it but was lucky and didn't get ticket. You can see that I run a plate on my Z.

Fire 03-28-2012 12:27 AM

My father got a ticket for parking at a parking meter with a handicap sticker and not paying to park. He recieved a letter hoping his day in the city was good. :gtfo2:

brucelidat 03-28-2012 12:32 AM

onzedge, 40th is looking sweet, love that color

brucelidat 03-28-2012 12:34 AM

Ticket was only $25 so not a big deal. If it's just $25 each time, I will leave it off. If it's more for a second violation, though, I might have to give in and put it on. Wonder if I can just leave that ticket on my windshield so they leave it alone...

Fire 03-28-2012 12:35 AM

Very nice color. I'm a huge fan of red with black add ons though.

Fire 03-28-2012 12:36 AM

LOL Bruce I would say it would attract tickets cause you didn't fix what the ticketed you for the first time.

brucelidat 03-28-2012 12:53 AM

Well, I am parking at the same location Friday and don't have time to fix it by then and don't want a second ticket for the same thing so I thought that might work. Cop goes by, sees the ticket, figures someone else beat him to it, moves along. It'll be a hassle to sort it out if I get a second ticket for the same thing before I get a chance to fix it.

Fire 03-28-2012 12:56 AM

Might work for a couple days but probably not long.:ugh2:

brucelidat 03-28-2012 12:56 AM

man, $80-$90 for these tow hook license plate brackets. Would prefer to have it centered, but don't want the holes, urgh, decisions...

Fire 03-28-2012 12:57 AM

As you can see in my avatar I have the factory holder and a tow hook. Do you have a factory holder?

brucelidat 03-28-2012 12:59 AM

I don't want to drill in though. and I would prefer it a little lower, staying within the black area.

Fire 03-28-2012 01:02 AM

I know what you mean. It took me a couple months to drill the holes for my rear wing. Then I did the front canards and it was easier LOL. You might be able to adjust it down haven't looked at it that close.

brucelidat 03-28-2012 01:06 AM

I might suck ti up and order a tow hook plate bracket. I might just leave it off except for when i go to areas where I know the cops look for that or if I need to show I 'fixed' it.

Fire 03-28-2012 01:09 AM

For a long time I put the front plate of the Vette in the windshield on the passenger side. That might work for you also but no guarantees.:ugh2:

brucelidat 03-28-2012 01:11 AM

Yeah, a **** cop could still ticket me for it, but worth a try.

Fire 03-28-2012 01:19 AM

Might work.

brucelidat 03-28-2012 01:23 AM

I'll try it out and think about the tow hook bracket. Looks like it'll be Stillen if I go that route. The gominigo one is nice because it has adjustable height, but it's almost $100. That's too much for a license plate bracket IMO.

Fire 03-28-2012 01:25 AM

$100 is quite alot to hold a plate.

Fire 03-28-2012 01:37 AM

Well bruce I'm going to get some sleep. Take care :tiphat:

TheGreatOne 03-28-2012 06:26 AM

Morning all :hello:

Eeek, some light flurries this morning, shouldn't stick though. Was planning to park near the train but will park indoors close to work just incase

Might need tires soon, actually been looking at the Nitto NT05. Looks like a sticky, attractive tire. Not many users on here seem to run Nitto though...

mrcoolguyface 03-28-2012 06:51 AM

Personally, I purposely leave my front plate off. I have been pulled over for it a few times. Everytime I tell the officer "sorry Im not drilling into my bumper". The only time I got a ticket for it was when I was pulled over for speeding and he gave me a no front plate ticket instead. So its a good excuse for the cop to give me a downgraded ticket.

Oh, my Z is going into the dealer this morn to get her trans looked at. Cant wait for the dealer to tell me my warranty is void due to my mods. Let the battle begin!!!!

GaleForce 03-28-2012 06:58 AM

I hate having to have a front plate, but I installed it anyways. I figure around here, the Z stands out like a sore thumb, I really don't need to have a blatant reason to be pulled over.

For the times being Brucelidat, I would stick the plate in the front window espesially if you're parking in the same spot.

Good morning all :hello:

LunaZ 03-28-2012 07:40 AM

Not having to mount a front plate is one of the few perks of living in PA.
Actually, I can't think of any other perks off the top of my head.
