Rain all weekend which means not very much Z time for me.

nepali 03-16-2012 09:49 AM

I did my first road trip (~390 miles) on Tuesday. Yesterday, I washed the car to get rid of all the bugs. I will be waxing it today (should have done it yesterday but didn't have time). :)

Btw, I ended up averaging 27mpg on my trip. Pretty darn good for a new engine. I am at 1320 miles now.

Just got back from picking-up the Z. Big THANKS to the guys at Baker Tuning for taking care of me.

The swap out of the Tanabes back to the original springs turned out fine. Looks like I picked-up an inch of lift, and the ride is 100% smoother. I know that sounds like an old man talking, but with the drop, the ride was incredibly harsh and unforgiving. For the roads around here, it was just too low and harsh for a daily driver.

Mr. Ken was right about the spacers; the rears (20mm) are definitely too big. The fronts (15mm) look perfect to me. I'm going to take some measurements this weekend to determine if I need rear spacers at all. It can't need more than 5mm, and I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

Right now the rears are sticking out like the Tiger Paws on my '70 Super Bee that I drove in high school. If I can hunt down a set of High Jackers and shackles, I'll get the rake on this baby just right!

Oh Ken, I'm sorry to hear that! :(

Back pain is so all-encompassing when you've got it. Have you ever gotten back spasms? Those truly suck.

Be well mon frere.

Z went in and out of the dealer today for oil change/mounting the summer wheels shod with new Michelin Pilot Super Sports/alignment. NICE! :) After a quick drive and just before dusk time for a wash and good detail. New paint on the hood/front-rear bumpers came out nice last week!

All set for spring/summer/fall driving n touring season here in Germany. I see lots of Z's are coming out on the forum. Wish all of you safe and exZemptionally great driving this season......Cheers! :driving:

hey thanks. i RARELY have back injury but once or twice a year i pull something. this time was pretty bad mainly because i couldn't get off work and rest.

i dont think ive had back spasms. my injury is like in the back hip to backbone area and i pull a muscle while the joint goes out of alignment or something.

anyway, im well enough that i think i can clean my G when i get home and start motoring my Z tomorrow. :D

Hello Mr.kenchan, Glad to hear you are feeling better

I will suggest you take some rest on the weekend before cleaning the G because you never know what might happen when you flex your back again. :tiphat:

yah, those pilots are atleast 4lbs lighter vs the RE050A's per corner so they should feel real good.

thanks on my back and sorry to hear about your back issues as well. yah, this is very annoying cause i can't really do anything with this pain when it's at its worst. but im on my way to recovery.

thanks, mr.alcheng. actually in my cause i need to stretch and keep moving, then relax...then redo over and over..otherwise my muscle tenses up and starts hurting. it's not a dislocated disc. :)

Thanks Happy. I went with the OEM size from the factory. They feel great and Kenchan said they would. I am looking foward to a nice run down to Lake Konstanz tomorrow. Its off the A-81 autobahn. The lake borders Germany and Switzerland. The cool thing is alot of the A-81 is speed free :) The release agent will not last long at all!! Should be a nice sunny day for a cruise and lunch by the lake. Pics to follow and feedback on the Pilots. :driving:

Ken I started suffering from bouts of lower back muscle spasm's when I was 24. They come and go. Most of the time the episodes are years apart. When they do visit, man....its not fun. I do what I can to avoid the trigger for them. Its hard to say just what it is. Hang in there. Most of us suffer from some sort of pain in the back in life at 1 time or another.

I completed the P90X fitness training program during spring, 2011, so that I could strengthen my body all around. I have a desk job, and the sitting down/inactivity was causing me to lose muscle mass, strength, and endurance, and experience higher blood pressures. During my training, I followed the P90X nutritional plan, too. I'm stronger, noticeably fitter, my blood pressure is in a more normal range, and I look younger. I'm 48, and people who've never met me before are amazed when I tell them that I'm 48. Most think that I'm 29. Some say 30 ... maybe? I've even heard 25! :D Getting my Z has spurred me to continue my training, because I want to look as good as my car! ;) The point is that you might benefit from back exercises to strengthen the muscles that support your spine, and regular exercise in general. However, be careful; you don't want to reinjure your back. Go slowly, but keep going. Change your life style for the better! Z Forum Members, do you care for your body as well as you care for your Z? :)

OMG took me forever reading all those posts. What a butt shot Brantly. Is that your trophy wife? :tiphat: Sorry to hear about your back issues guys. I've been lucky and have not had bad back pain. Even after 4 years of playing Rugby in the Marines and hours of lying on cold concrete working on race cars. I put it to my intense workout regiment that keeps my awesome round body shape LOL. Hey who are these newbe's you guys speak of? I know I would never post meaningless and waste of time posts. I do alot of thinking before posting my thoughts. :bowrofl: A guy posted in ZL1registry.org saying that from what Chevy says there will be only 3 more production days until the 2013's start production. I might end up with an early 2013.
