Hey ya see we have two Canadians here at one time. Thats almost a hockey game eh? Put your sticks down. In NY there are hundreds of construction zones with no workers, just like all the truck weigh stations that are never open. :ugh2:

They have the same system in illinois. They will close down 25 mile stretch of the highway and you wont see a single construction vehicle.

Hey guys!

Noticed something a little disconcerting today:

It's full on 75° here in Fl but my thermometer shows 66°. :(
Anyone else seen that?

Fire 03-13-2012 11:40 AM

So Gale your saying that they are still spray painting and haven't gone to dipping the cars yet? It confuses me as to how one spray nozzle can be used for different colors without transferring some of the previous color.

Mine is usually correct unless i'm in traffic

Fire 03-13-2012 11:41 AM

I was agreeing that everywhere there are work zone without workers. Not just a Cali thing.

I have seen that -- my outside temp got stuck on 71 degrees for a day and literally as I was taking it to the dealer, it fixed itself and has been fine ever since.

Yeah, it's very cool, the line never stops and you'll have all different colours going down the line. the robots have a "purge" program between cars. They can even paint an entirely different vehicle after painting a camaro, never stopping.... Flexible manufacturing... The cars are dipped (alpo/phosphate) after the bodyshop is done with them, before sealer and primer.

hummm... is your car moving? since my garage is usually cooler than outside in the summer time i need to drive the car at least around the block to get the probe (thermocouple) to sense the ambient air outside.

well if you get caught speeding 10 over in constructions zone in illinois that usually equals $350+ fine and anything over that may get you arrested. Hitting a worker equals $10,000 fine plus jail time.

I got a ticket for going 27 over the limit when I first got the Z, so I don't think you get arrested for over 20. Even over 30 I think it's the police officers decision if he wants to place you under arrest, but at that point it becomes more likely. Over 35 or something like that, you may be facing license suspension though.

Correction new rules as of 2010:
Quote:

Speeding 30 mph in excess of the limit is no longer a petty offense punishable by fine only. Now, a ticket for going 30 mph over the speed limit is a Class B misdemeanor, which has a penalty of up to six months jail and $1,500.00 fine
Quote:

Speeding 40 mph or more over the limit was already a Class A misdemeanor. See 625 ILCS 5/11-601.5. All such offenses carry a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of $2,500.00.

New Law Against Speeding 40 MPH in Illinois | No Supervision | Speeding 30 MPH Over Class B Misdemeanor

It happens all the time near chicago where people are coming in via interstates (65 mph) and I94/I90 through the city are 45&55 mph depending on where you are. Many people drive 80 mph on interstates.

Yes, it's moving but it was only a short trip. I think I'll drive around the block to see if it improves.

Yeah a short trip isn't enough time for it to readjust. Usually it takes 10-15 minutes or so for mine get the right temp

The penalty will double if you speed in the construction zone.

Otherwise, 40km/h+ you could be charged careless driving, 50km/h+ you could get your car impounded on site. And they have undercover in any kind of van, suv, compact, in any color.... :eekdance:

It was something about enforcing speeds via horseback and I can't remember the rest of my thought. When I think of the RCMP, I always picture horses for some reason. Please forgive my ignorance and American-centric viewpoint.

Fire 03-13-2012 01:16 PM

They are Mounties. I think that when they catch up to you the horse craps on your hood. :bowrofl:

Hmmm, maybe. I assumed they were still using them because I see airplanes flying along side the 401 where I am (1 hour east of Toronto).

Gale those are seagulls from the great lakes. You have to watch what comes out of them even more. :shakes head:
