Cool Ester Oil

I live in Pennsylvania, and have 4 seasons driving weather. I just put 2,000 miles on my 09 370 Red sport M6. Would it be worth my while to put in Nissan Ester oil? Are Mobil1 or Motul oil compatible ( and cheaper-I can get 5 qts of Mobil1 and their best oil filter for around $25-$30 on sale?) Also, what about oil filters? Is it worth it to use, say A K&N oil filter? Also, how long should I let the hot rod warm up before driving it?

I got 2 free oil change from the Stealership, will see if they use Ester Oil. Which I doubt it...

When I took my car back to the dealer for it's first free oil change I had to explain to the service agent what the Ester Oil was. She had to call in another agent to ask about it and he said something along the lines "oh, he means synthetic oil"

Yep, M1 and Motul would be fine - as would a number of other less expensive alternatives (Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, etc.).

There are a number of good oil filters out there too and there are threads here in the forum that discuss this topic, and you might want to read this thread as well: Don't Use Nissan OEM Oil Filters. M1, Wix, Purolator, K&N, among others, seem to all get pretty good reviews around here - I personally use K&N oil filters in my Z and on my two 1970's Corvettes.

As far as the warm up goes - I usually just wait about 30 seconds or so, and then go easy on the revs until the oil temp gauge is well off of the 140 degree mark.

I have not yet changed the oil in my new 370Z (still under 400 miles and one month). The oil in it at delivery is, I understand, an ester based synthetic. If that is correct, wouldn't it be unwise to replace it with dino oil for the first change or two as some have recommended, because the car has been run for 2 or 3 thousand miles on ester based synthetic? Bottom line: Is the oil at delivery ester based synthetic and if so does that mitigate against a dino oil replacement or two on the way to permanent use of synthetic oils, thereafter?
