Take this picture with my receipt. Go to dealer and showed to my service manager. Because this is my second attempted to dealer. First trip. They test it out and said no problem. So I decided to do this. The gasoline station to the dealer just 3 miles away. So there's no way I can burned 2 bars in 3-5 mins. So they took my car in. Then after couple of hours. They called me and told me yes the gas gauge was defected. They said just pick up my car and return the loaner and use the z t low the gas because they need it to be low. Since the part have to order 3-5 days. They will call me and bring the car back in. So whoever in forum got same issues. Just bring the car in or do same thing like I did. Sorry for a bad English.

Maybe you should have them reset your TPMS too!

They towed my car to dealer because of steering lock mechanism was bad and body control module was bad too. So they replaced 2 parts then reprogram my key. bring it home tested the other key. But didn't work.I got a low tire pressure on the day I picked up my car I was thinking maybe no big deal so I take it home. Then checked out 4 wheels but all around 30 psi so I know it was good so I was thinking they changed my frequency so they also need to reset or reprogram the tire sensors too. On the day they towed my car to the dealer I mentioned to them about the fuel gauge. they noted it and tested out. The result was just normal/working... So since I have to bring my car in to reprogram my key and reset the tires sensors. Then I go filled full tank and show them the evidence. Now they say yes it was bad and they will replace the fuel sending unit. They also done a recall for our z. All the 2010 z owners with nav there's a recall for our map update or software update. I'm not saying they wil update your nav to 2012 (I wish) they just going to update the software....

I swear once I get under 20miles remaining, it all the sudden turns to the three dashes "---" indicating no miles remaining. There must be something seriously wrong with my fuel sensors.

No, it's normal. I have the same. So when my fuel indicator has 2 lights left, it shows roughly 40 miles left. And then when it's down to 1 light left, it will turn into "---" like you mentioned. From my some daring experience, you roughly have 2 gallons left with 1 light and 0.5 gallon left when all lights are gone.

I was thinking of doing an experiment. When the low fuel warning comes on (two dots) reset the odometer and drive it until it runs out of gas! To see how many miles you really can go... But I am kinda scared. lol

Do it and run normal.
Do it then run aggressive.
Do it when u sit in the traffic.

Anyone else have this issue?
Your fuel pump is cooled by the fuel in your tank so letting it drop low will overheat your pump and cause an early failure,, this goes for all cars with an in tank fuel pump...........

Just to share my recent experience. 2 dots left and flashing low fuel with about 38 miles remaining. Filled up the tank with 18 gallons. So I have about 1 gallon left in the tank based on the 19 gallon capacity. I suppose the computer is off by about 20 miles assuming I get about 18 mpg unless there is some sort of reserve capacity beyond the 19 gallons.

I also have a flaky fuel gauge but an FYI you should try to keep about 1/4 tank as the internal fuel pumps are fluid cooled don't want them to fail prematurely
