Did you catch the douchebag that was driving the lifted truck? Sounds like the stereotypical small-d*cked "truck guy." He's technically liable since his speeding caused you to lose control of your car. For you it was a choice of A) getting rear ended by a lifted truck or B) quickly changing lanes to get out of the way. Either choice, it was that a-hole's fault. edit: read your post above - that really sucks. Especially that the 1 witness didn't have the balls to stop and help.

Sorry, but no one "freshy oils" a road. Oil was only used back in the day on gravel roads to keep the dust down. I design/construct roads for a living and a new asphalt road will yield better traction then an older one. They may have crack sealed it but thats not oil either. Sorry to hear about your mishap with your Z. Spares suck.

"But this is not asphalt"! It's a "oily tar slurry" that is used to cover the asphalt, or the old road!

That's messed up how the guy behind you didn't even stop to see if you're OK. That's one of the reasons why I left California. Too many people not giving a shite about others. The first year I lived in NC the wife and I where leaving a trade show when the dude in front of us on a Harley took a spill. I and two other cars stopped. I called 911 while the others helped make sure the guy was doing ok and moving his bike out of the way of traffic.
The important thing is you came out of it OK. The car can be fixed. |

i dont know if this has been mentioned yet, but if you get a flat in one of the rear wheels in our cars with a limited slip differential (sports package, 40th, nismo) you should probably take off your front wheel of that side of the car, put it on the rear, and put the donut up front. This was probably a contributing factor in your accident. Having a tire 1/4 the size of your drive wheel on a rear wheel drive car equipped with an LSD is going to mess with your traction.

Oh man I hate to see a fellow 40th owner get banged up, glad your ok. So your car is going to be gone for quite some time. I was in an accident earlier this year with my 40th ( check out my thread on here called I GOT HIT HELP), I would say just about the same if not more damage and my car was gone for three weeks, when they originally said it would only be one week. The biggest problem is the parts, especially if you have to get new rims, it takes FOREVER to get 40th rims to be delivered. I would also make sure you check out the paint job when its done, make sure they blend the paint the right color so that it matches the other panels. Its going to be awhile so be patient. FOR ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE posting and calling you out about 30mph, dont listen to them. Apparently we have a bunch of know it alls on this forum ( yea im calling u guys out)......hitting any type of object at 30mph can cause substantial damage to a car, especially a car with plastic parts........good luck and let me know if you have any questions

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. Thats crap. Glad you and all involved are physically ok, though.
Spare tires suck. I ran one on my WS6 one time out of necessity and a 3rd-gear roll on would have it hopping and going crazy. Spare tires for sports cars are meant to LIMP to the shop to bolt another real one on. |

Glad you're ok, sucks about the car though. >_<
Even at 30 mph, a car crash can still do devastating things. I'm in the military and I've seen HUMMV's get f**ked up at 30-40 mph, when hitting stationary objects. (And I'm not talking about explosives, I'm talking about just normal objects.) They're also considerably beefer then a 370z is. Also, was talking with a Nissan rep and they said that if Nissan has to fix/repair a part, they just swap it for a new one, which might be why it's so highly priced. But I don't know any more about it then that, I've been blessed to not have had to go through an accident, yet. (knock on wood) Been in a few accidents but always as the passenger and not the driver, nor my vehicle. Anyways, glad you're no worse for the wear, best of luck to you and I hope they get back to you in solid condition with minimal paint difference. |
