Just go ahead a reach the fuel cut-off everytime you shift. It is more fun!

Actually, I have been wanting to post a question to this Forum about something I thought I heard about the 370Z engine, and this seems like a good time to do it.

It has been my understanding that there is a built in "cut-off" that prevents us from blowing the engine by revving the engine too high, and if we get a certain type of "tune up", that feature will be no longer effective.

With the effortless and rapid speed that this engine will rev past red line, it is an all too easy thing to do, even among the most conscientious of us.

Can anyone confirm - explain this?

don't get me all wrong... i love the Z and i don't think there is a respect issue here with my Z and fellow z owners .. I just want to fully utilize it without blowing the engine.

well, if continue to drive like you have described you will likely blow the engine...

okay you sound serious, so imma give you a serious answer. this will definitely blow ur engine. it wont last for very long like this. you say "isnt it built for this" well simple answer is no.

mmm liken it to a person. if you ran all the time just non stop running everywhere wouldnt you "blow an engine" u gotta walk and run. baby the thing when ur driving it daily and when you really wanna "push it" drop a few gears and gun it. if u treat it nicely it will treat you nicely. dont rag on it without any cause to such as highway cruising.

Your revs should always match your speed. You can cruise in 3rd going 35mph for example. Keep your revs under or around 3000 rpm unless your accelerating and you should be fine. You don't need to keep the rev's up to go fast. Just work on shifting faster instead of putting strain on the engine. The big draw to having a manual is your ability to anticipate when to shift. Staying a gear lower than "cruising" will give you the same effect your looking for. You can drive it like a race car, it your car and your money. I could be wrong, but I thought the Z has a black box. If your engine blows up, don't blame Nissan for voiding your warranty

Just so you know, keeping the rev's up will heat up the oil faster than you think. Limp mode will kick in & won't let you pass 3500 rpm to save the engine.

Think of it this way. There is a reason why Formula One engines only last one race.

While I totally agree with your reasoning, your facts are hinkey. 19 races. 8 allowed engines. Most teams don't use all of the engines.
Maybe the better statement is "there's a reason F1 engines cost as much as they do".
Plus, there are no pedestrians on an F1 track.

Better example would be NASCAR in the late 90s before they outlawed qualifying engines... An engine that would last only two laps.

I was waiting to be corrected . So let me modify my statement to: "There is a reason F1 engines only last three races."

And I beg to differ about the pedestrians...

Did you really say "That's how I roll"? And "live or let die?"

You need to turn off VDC and repeat the following:

I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
