The 240? I put more money into restoration stuff than mods over the years, it seems. Here is a partial mod list:
  • All bushings are Suspension Techniques urethane
  • Front and rear MSA sway bars
  • Front and rear MSA strut braces
  • Aluminum radiator and electric fans
  • Tokico Illumina springs and dampers
  • Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel
  • E-31 head with oversized (P-90) valves
  • Mildly built cam
  • Fidanza flywheel
  • Centerforce II clutch
  • 6-2-1 header and Dynaflow exhaust
  • Short steering knuckles with bump steer spacers

I have a Borg Warner T-5 that is going in this summer as soon as I find a reasonable condition R-200 diff with the right gears (3.83 or 3.90). I am also going to replace the front and rear control arms with custom built ones from Techno Toy tuning. Last, I am strongly considering stroking one of the spare F54 blocks (from a 280zx) in August because I always wanted 230 + hp in this Z.

Thanks for asking. I am sure I am leaving out stuff, but this is a representative list.

Kewl Z onze. I traded my extrememly modded 76 280z this year. I had replaced bushings with poly bushings, lowered 1 1/2", had custom Bonspeed rims with Kuhmo tires. Roll bar, custom gauges, battery in trunk. I swapped in a 406ci SBC with trick flow heads, edelbrock fuel injection and nitrous, turbo 350 trans. I put in a safety fuel cell, race kirkey race seats and 5 point 3" harnesses. The body was custom with molded body kit including rear wheel wells, a custom cowl induction hood and roof scoop. Oh h/p 400 on engine only, 500 with NOS.

Analyzing on how to lower the tips of my F.I. so I can fit the EVO-R rear valance.

Just pop a few washers under the three bolts that secure the exhaust hangers to body and you're all set!
(Depending on how many washers you decide to add, you may need longer bolts)

kenchan 07-04-2011 12:41 PM

Yep, wat Luna said. :)

Motored my Z again today and had a great time. :p I think all the lowend bozo's were still asleep from heavy drinking and so roads were clear from those dumbarses that drive slow on sunny days and fast on rainy crap days. :D

Well that was my initial thought.

However, what I was analyzing is since the F.I. sits close to the ground. I was thinking if in the future I decide to lower the car if is going to scrape and damage the F.I.

kenchan 07-04-2011 03:45 PM

Yah, that unit is close to the ground. I gave my fujimura rear valance about 7-8mm clearance. No issue with melting but I don't track the car..

LunaZ 07-04-2011 05:46 PM

Looked at it and thought about going for a drive, but then I remembered I've been drinking since I woke up.

Responsibility is such a bi*ch!

frost 07-04-2011 06:10 PM

My tires are getting pretty old. I managed to get sideways even with the VDC on :icon17:

That can be so disheartening. :(

Good luck with your search.

Vegitto-kun 07-05-2011 05:11 AM

cleaned her before work. drove to work

raged that she is dirty again.

and even more raging because of amuse.

it has been like 5-6 months since they "shipped" my vestito kit.

we called them.

their response?

"oh yeah we have no idea where it is".

I would think if they are sending a 5000+ dollars shipment that they would put some decent tracking on it.

ouchh

Vegitto-kun 07-05-2011 05:59 AM

I know.

I can understand a delay because of the whole tsunami thing.

but they said a month and half to 2 months for the shipping.

now we are at month 6 I think.

then they go that they don't know where it is. so yeah I will probably kill somebody if its lost.

Econ 07-05-2011 06:04 AM

best of luck witht that man...

hopefully it all works out...

Vegitto-kun 07-05-2011 06:08 AM

yeah I hope so too.

well they did offer a replacement.

but then they went

"LOL PAY THE SHIPPING AND SEND BACK THE OTHER ONE IF IT ARRIVES AND PAY DAT SHIPPING TOO"

the guy that works on my car was not amused

happytheman 07-05-2011 06:42 AM

WHAT? They want you to pay for both sets of shipping?? What vendor are you working through to get your kit?

Sorry to hear about your troubles man!

Vegitto-kun 07-05-2011 06:49 AM

guy that works on mah car.

he is dealing with amuse directly.

He is trying his best to get them to ship it for free. Now they are discussing with their shipping division. He is royally pissed off. He is all " I have been dealing with japanese companies for over 10 years and I never had this happen to me. Air ship this bitch yo"

guy is epic though.

only official HKS dealer in belgium

I drove my 240 to my office today -- the first time in months. I forgot the noise and smell of it -- I missed her. Anyone with noise complaints on the 370, come on out to Sac for a ride and you will think your 370 is a Caddy.

Have a great day.

FromG2Z 07-05-2011 11:01 AM

well.... ok, I dropped my Z off at my installer. Getting the b-pillars, front black bumper trim, and kick plates 3M Scotchprinted CF, then getting hood 22" clear bra'd..... (yes, I decided to do that). Wish me luck... (I'm nervous about the 22" :()

Also, I may decide not to do the fenders.... since it's pretty hidden from the front face anyways...

I scared myself with the Z today lol

I have previously drifted into sharp turns before with the Z if I stepped on it will making the turn in 2nd...not a huge drift, just slide into the turn (same thing that happens if I use too much tire shine and go out for the first 5 minutes lol)

So this morning I say, hmm, what kind of slide could I get with the VDC off :ugh2::shakes head:

HA, I go full sideways practically, correct myself and continue on. Its 7:30am, so not many cars on the road where I turned but I'm sure the 2 cars on the opposite side were like "WTF is wrong with this guy" or "He has too much power" lol

Anyways, interesting...I'll leave the VDC on for the time being or just not make stupid turns

No necessarily...

Although I drive my car daily, it doesn't take away from the fact that I do take it to lapping days.

It serves a purpose, and it happens to look cool.

It also gives the insurance company enough to delay/deny your claim if you ever hit something :-/

what do you mean?

Tying a block of metal to your frame, and bringing it out to be the foremost part of your car significantly affects the way it could act in the case of front end impact.
