The body shop will notice the abnormal frame damage 9 times out of 10.

Synack 07-05-2011 06:29 PM

I did this today.

well.... ok, I dropped my Z off at my installer. Getting the b-pillars, front black bumper trim, and kick plates 3M Scotchprinted CF, then getting hood 22" clear bra'd..... (yes, I decided to do that). Wish me luck... (I'm nervous about the 22" :()

Also, I may decide not to do the fenders.... since it's pretty hidden from the front face anyways...

Howd it turn out? :D

Wow, sorry to hear that. :(

So I finished the Z's oil change, went to recycle the old oil, fixed the backup camera since I was suddenly getting uncontrolled screen scrolling. Turned out the 12v wire I tapped for the camera module had thin wire inside the thick jacket so I use the wrong size tap. Used my knife to cut off a section of the jacket and used a smaller wiretap. Tested like 20 times. Fixed. :D

Then washed my white Fit Sport. :p

SPOHN 07-05-2011 07:41 PM

Removed the cubby hole door today. I...have...a....plan.

Uh oh... what do you have planned?!?!?!?!

SPOHN 07-05-2011 07:53 PM

^ It's going to take some time to get what I want right. But it will be my own work. But there's a gauge involved. That's all I'm saying.... Cricket sounds

FromG2Z 07-05-2011 07:59 PM

Alright... I just got the car back and took some pics. Overall, I am impressed with the install. Thanks to those who helped convince me to get a clear bra on the hood... I went with the 22" cut. I also 3M ScotchPrinted the b-pillars and front trim (along with rear valence from the other day). Let me know what you guys think :)

Clear bra, 22" hood (will do the fenders tomorrow)
[can you guys see the line in natural light?]

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...a/DSC_1566.jpg

Here is a more visible line, after playing with the LED flash on my EVO...

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...a/IMAG0074.jpg

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...a/IMAG0072.jpg

Then I had the b-pillars done. I must say, this looks 100x better in person. I love this "mod", if you call it that... lol

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...a/DSC_1576.jpg

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...a/DSC_1577.jpg

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...a/DSC_1578.jpg

And lastly, I did the front bumper trim. So now, it is all "tied" together. The rear valence, the b-pillars, and the front bumper trim. All that's left are the kick plates. Can someone tell me how to remove them???

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Painted / color matched headlights look cheesy IMO. I just refuse to paint mine.

G2Z, the CF wrap looks great! I really like the wrap on the bumper finisher as well! Great idea!

I really need to do the B pillars because the prior owner scratched the drivers side one... It doesn't look too bad, but it bothers me.

happytheman 07-05-2011 10:25 PM

Oh yeah, installed GTR starter button and Nismo TI shifter in like 20 minutes! Great coupla mods!

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. Yeah I have to take it back to him tomorrow to do the fenders and door handles. I tried to remove the kickplates tonight, but got pretty worried when I was trying to pry those kickplates off. Was worried I'd snap the darn thing in two. I did find the instructions for it:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/images/...6950-Z34KP.pdf

But not sure what to do about the "tool" needed to pry those 4 snap locks off...

:pics: Sounds great though, happy! I was thinking about the GTR button, but with my PW z, I think the white button actually fits it better, esp with the black interior, and white stitching that comes stock with my car.

Thanks for the info guys... I think we have one of those. So I WAS doing it right then. I just stopped for fear of snapping something. Do you know if I have to remove the interior trim next to the kick plate in order to remove the kick plate itself?

Yeah I hear ya.... but seeing it in person, esp this new Scotchprint stuff looks awesome. But also, if I get tired of it, the best part is that I just pull it off. It's not permanent like paint :D

kenchan 07-06-2011 10:34 AM

G2Z- no i think you just keep pulling it up and (wat it looks like it's using) the mounting tape will work itself off. but yah, i would be gentle on that thing as if the plastic bends you'll get a permanent white spot. :icon14:

no Z action today, but did :yum: at her butt while backing out my G to work this am. :icon17:

Question: do you have illuminated kick plates? If so, then yes because that's where the wiring is at, if no..then no need to remove anything else. Also, Kenchan is right with respect to the mounting tape being in place, if you don't have the illuminated ones, then the only thing holding them in place is the plastic clips.
