I donno about the handle but the total system is easy to understand and use. Orange pad for polishes, red pads for glaze, sealants, and wax. Can't get any easier than this.

Some times too many choices makes it too clumsy. Unless you're a pro easy is good.
This is why I like the Griots system. And it does very well. :p

The PC has a removable handle too. But I don't use it anyways. Just grab a hold of the back of the PC... Don't get me wrong, Griots is nice too. I like them all :)

If you're not careful with any of these buffers, you'll burn the paint. It's just harder to burn it with a dual action like the PC or the Griots DA. The Flex is halfway between a DA and a rotary. It cuts better and quicker, giving you a better result than any other DA at 1/2 the passes. Some people (inlcuding myself) say it even finishes nicer than a rotary.

Put it this way... the Flex is the safey and convenience of a DA, with the power of a rotary.

Ken, the pad system (and associated colors) applies to all DA's/rotaries, not just Griot's. Using a hook and loop backing plate, the pads are interchangeable with any machine. So it doesn't matter whether it's a Griots or PC or Flex. As long as you have the proper sized backing plate, you can switch around the pads. I usually correct with my Flex, then glaze and seal with my PC. Flex is just that much better for correcting.

Also in general, the oranges and coarse yellows are universally color coded to be more aggressive, followed by coarse green, white, grey, blue, red, then gold. Use grey for final polishes, blue for glazes, then red for sealants. Gold pads are just for caressing ;)

see...thats what im trying to avoid lol. i actually have a minor dent on the black plastic part of the splitter. i was so low that i hit my own ramps the first time i dropped the car after setting the coils. i immediately raised the front. ill replace that part eventually...but from what i hear nissan charges ~$400 for that part!

kenchan 06-08-2011 01:27 PM

chops- can't you heat it and push it out from the back?

i did! took a heat gun to it and pushed it out, but its still slightly indented. couldnt get it to mold perfectly into the exact shape since its rounded. did my best though.

ill just end up replacing it sooner or later as it gets more and more scrapes (the first week or two getting used to the lowness definitely scraped it up a bit heh). but now that i know what i can and cant go over, i hardly scrape!

kenchan 06-08-2011 01:54 PM

sounds good. i have not yet encounted any scraping on my ings. :p

Wow! Bump! Is nobody across the forum some gazillion members strong not doing anything with their Z? Well I find that hard to believe!

Drove her to work and to the grocery store today. Parked out in the Amazon two spots down from a second generation Eclipse.

Jjaden 06-09-2011 06:03 PM

Just had F.I. HFC installed. Combined with the F.I. CBE the car sounds amazing now, and my but-dyno seems to notice a difference.

Dude I was thinkin the same all day. I periodically check in on my Droid and nobody was reporting anything! Slow day I suppose....

nynhex 06-09-2011 07:50 PM

This is what I did with my 370z today.

http://www.fasttoys.net/wheels/konigafterburner.jpg
20x8.5 front 20x10 rear +25 offset (I think)

Hankook V12s 245/30/20 Front 275/35/20

I really wanted to go wider in the front but they don't make a 20x9 or 9.5. I'm hoping these look good and will ride well.

The think I'm concerned with is being able to drop on swift springs once I have these on.

They get installed tomorrow.. Pics coming!

happytheman 06-09-2011 07:55 PM

:ohsnap1:

In for pics! Can't wait to see how it looks on MB!

FromG2Z 06-09-2011 08:25 PM

Nice rims man.... althought I have a feeling those might be kindda heavy?!?!?

happytheman 06-09-2011 08:31 PM

Meh, if he's not tracking his car I don't suppose it'll matter much.

chops 06-09-2011 08:48 PM

changed my oil with penzoil ultra today! who said changing oil was hard? its just 4 bolts!

kenchan 06-09-2011 10:07 PM

No Z action today but I did dust her off alittle inside the garage. :p

98intrigue 06-09-2011 10:18 PM

Attempted to install my turbo timer.

sigh. i just emptied the drip tray and i only filled up the 5 quart jug with about ~4.25 quarts of oil. oil burning, or dealer error? (my first oil change was free at the dealership)

edit: FYI, its been 3751 miles since my last oil change and im now at 7,000 miles!

ah ok. well im going to continue to monitor oil levels! almost every other car ive owned/done maintenance on i get within .25 quarts of what i put in. then again ive never owned a high output motor like the one in our Z's

My car will probably never see the track, so I'm not too worried about it. From what I've read the 20's weight about 30lbs each. Not too far off from my 18" base wheels.

My main concern is the potential for them bending. I've had several pair of Konig's (was even sponsored at one point) and never had a problem but read a lot of threads with people bitching about it.

The wheels get put on at noon tomorrow. Pics soon :)

I really hope I can still go with the swift spring drop I plan, provided that they ever get delivered. 40days and counting.

Do not worry yet. You have a 3 year warranty. I used a quart every 500 miles so I did the oil consumption test, failed and got a new engine. Now with 3500 miles on this engine I've used two quarts at a slowing rate. If you are still burning oil at 10,000 miles you ought to check it out with the dealer. I think you will be fine, although I may still be in the woods.

Doesn't really bother me. I like the way they look and I'm not all that interested in tracking the car or winning any races.

Here's a quick pic from my iPhone, more to come..

^ looks great. If the headlights were done. BAM! It would be bad a$$.

I just drove my car today.

Juruki 06-10-2011 06:55 PM

nynhex that looks very nice! matches your blue Z pretty well

happytheman 06-10-2011 10:02 PM

Nynnhex, I think the wheels look sweet! They've got a subtlety that I wouldnt've guessed. Now you've really got to do something about those calipers. I think a bit of powder coating is in order, don't you?

happytheman 06-10-2011 10:22 PM

Gave her a wash and blow-dry. Also gave her a bit of a wax job to keep those special areas looking smooth and silky!

I totally agree. I'd like to find someone local in Houston who can help me. I've done them before but they are a pain in the *** and I'm rather clumsy.

I'm with you on that one. The calipers will come off soon. We have a powdercoating oven at work so I'll probably do them in a black or anthracite color.

One day at a time.. I'm going to be eating peanutbutter and jelly sammiches for a few weeks while recovering from the wheel expense. But I couldn't pass up the deal.

Driving on 20's is way different. But they rock.
