Do test pipes in the Z sound raspy or droney? Also, what kind of gains can one expect with test pipes over a quality HFC like Berk?

You guys are pro's. :D

Turned on the dehumidifier in the garage to prevent rotor surface rust. Had a downpour while working on removing some other bits on the dd with the garage open. :shakes head: humidity now under control. :D

I would have to have an industrial sized dehumudifier (cranking 24x7) here in Florida!:bowrofl:

Red__Zed 06-04-2011 05:48 PM

Another quick wash and wax. Seems like we've got a lot of stuff still floating in the air.

Dzel 06-04-2011 05:55 PM

:happydance:Waxed and polished her up for a Saturday night cruise.:happydance:

Hahaha, as long as temps aren't different inside the garage and outside you shouldn't have condensation. My garage is usually much cooler than outside so sudden damp hot air is not welcome for my cars and tools. :ugh2:

Test pipes all finished. Sound is great minus the little rattle it gets at about 2300 rpm. But I hear thats usually what people get w test pipes. Smells like total crap as of now, have to wait and see what happens after I drive it for awhile. At the begining of the install I was feeling very intimidated but after gettin that first bolt loose all the intimidation left and we breezed thru it. Now my rims/tyres & swifts just need to ship!!

The smell won't get much better... You should smell me and my car with how rich it's running and straight 3" downpipe to my HKS.

happytheman 06-04-2011 08:38 PM

Nothing yet. Took out the Xterra to get Lottery and a snack. Maybe a late night cruise?

FromG2Z 06-04-2011 08:52 PM

Nothing for me today... damn weather has been so spotty. Same tomorrow. Zena stays in.

Yeah, its ridiculous... one thing I didn't miss for driving an NA car for 8 months.

Alchemy 06-05-2011 12:14 AM

 mine is NA and im still gonna smell like gas, double loss for me...

I thought the cats were just for removing/helping with the sulfer smell?

How is the sound of your pipes other than the rattle? Are you otherwise pleased? Props for doing the work yourself!

Kingbaby 06-05-2011 01:23 AM

Thanks for the props. Im determined to do every install on this car. Well minus the upcoming Uprev tune. I like the sound, a little raspy but again its to be expected w test pipes. I bought them because I wanted to enhance the loudness of my Stillen CBE. Which it did. It def flows better too. Smell is pretty rough. I can say goodbye to the fresh smell of my interior, its over for that. Im also expecting many complaints from my girlfriend.

The vid I just did from ZDayz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJk-cYUIr0g

USINC97 06-05-2011 03:24 AM

Took a ride to Crystal Lake IL yesterday morning to take care of some honey do's.
Saw a red 350 parked in the Walmart shopping center south of town. Like me, he parked well to the rear of the lot. On the way back to WI, I passed a black rag top 370 has he was making a right turn off of 31 S in Johnsburg.

Kind of interesting since I never see another "Z" during my drives in the area. On the other hand, I stopped counting the vettes that passed me after 15.

kenchan 06-05-2011 11:20 AM

Intrigue- no bov sound? Or just couldn't capture on vid? :)

Motored my Z this am and QDed afterwards. Was a pretty good drive. Not 100% awake cause mis-shifted to 5th instead of 3rd :icon14: bog! Missed that chance to open her up. :D then approached a light that was about to change to green so I switched lanes to line up behind a STI only for the guy to stall. :D he wasn't awake either. Lol

Then on the way back drove spiritedly at speed limit as I always do and a Charger casually followed behind me not offensive just enjoying the ride.. and suddenly a douch in a family sedan 5series passed us at over 30mph for no reason. He must got confused which was the gas and which was the brake pedals while sexting. :D ... then I see some guy in either a Kia or Hyundai (was poorly alternated) do a bibimba flyby making alot of noise but not going really all that fast. He must got confused and was reminding himself he is not a winner. :icon17: so the Charger and I just kept going at the same pace until we parted our ways. :D

I LOL'd! You know those guys are stomping and rowing their ways furiously through the gears to accomplish that drive by! If you look closely, you can see the beads of sweat begin to trickle down their foreheads from the effort! BWAHAHhahhahah :icon17:

well, when its raining in june in california, not much of a choice :\ trust me, im sick of driving my DD.

anyway, i was bored so i gave the Z it's first real detail today in the garage:

ONR > clay + ONR > klasse all-in-one > meguiars #205 > a quick ONR detail > klasse sealant glaze. all done with with a griots 6"

paint is soooo smoooth and shiiny :excited: :excited: :excited:

Sounds cool. Have you ever used Meguiars Ultimate Compound? I use it as a polish and am wondering how it compares to 205,

from what i know, the ultimate compound is a heavier polish compared to the #205. i have alot of fine scratches (dealer washed the car by machine, even though the sticker on the rear windshield specifically says NOT to) so the 205 is good enough.

if you have time, you might want to try using the 205 after the ultimate compound. then again for the perfect finish, i dont know THAT much about the products. /waits for kenchan to chime in

Thanks for the information. I have wanted to try the 205 for a while.

np. i wish i got a dark color to enjoy the hard work put into polishing/cleaning the paint. with white...it just gets whiter? im sure your 40th would look gorgeous with a fresh polish and sealant! :bowrofl:

'Compound' is what bodyshops usually use to polish clearcoats after painting.

It can be a very coarse diminishing abrasive. I would try firmer pad on the same polish you currently use (and have experience with) and see the results first. :)

Glad to see another ONR user. I hope you are using the 2 bucket/gritguard method? I haven't used my Klasse stuff in a long time. Might have to whip it out again.

BTW, if you like #205, you should try Menzerna products. I use PO85RD and PO106FA alternately, and it jewels it up much better then Meg's stuff does. Love Menz polishes.

M205 has a good working time, but as mentioned above, M205 doesn't finish quite as nicely as Menz does. If you really want to get those fine scratches out, try out Menz Power Finish or SIP or Meg's 105 with an orange or white pad first, then use M205 or the other Menz stuff mentioned above.

whaaaaaaaat? I love our white man. The hard work into our PW results in not only a really wet look, but also makes the flakes pop, esp in the sun. In the sun, black can't compare to white. And I've had 5 black cars, all polished to perfection.

I agree.... although, even M205 on a more aggressive pad may not be enough. If he wants to stick with Meg's stuff, he should try M105 with a white or orange pad, or use the polishes I mention above.

As for me today, I washed and waxed Zena today.

Water softened H20
ONR capfuls into Pinnacle 2BM
Optimum Power Clean for tires
ARO for rims
Daytona wheel brush
Boar's hair brush for emblems, gas cap area, lug nuts
Dried using FK425 and several MF's
DG Aquawax on rims
Pinnacle SSII for final LSP
Stored her away for the day/night (rain tomorrow).
