not fully decided yet... :D probably either the TWM or the PWJDM.

the issue is not really in my Z cause i only take her out on weekends, but in my G which has a metal TWM knob right now.. it gets SUPERHOT while parked at the office in the sun so i want to use my Z's knob on the G and get a new knob for the Z. (i distroyed my G's knob while removing it back like 6yrs ago. :ugh2: )

ordered up a roll of Xpel protector 7ft x 4" wide to do the side of the car. :) i found some minor kickup chips on the very bottom 3" of the car from when i was running 20mm spacers up front on stock 19's.

i measued 6ft each side and didnt feel like paying $190 for the pre-cut side pieces from autopaintguard.com so got the generic roll for less than $50 shipped. :p will trim to shape and squeegee on.

Found out my fabricators shop was out of power for a few hours today...now the car won't be finished until late Monday. Possible tuning Tuesday.

Bummer.

kenchan 05-06-2011 06:29 PM

Yah, actually that's 17ft x 4" for $50 shipped. :p. (Typo)

Fire 05-06-2011 07:47 PM

Went to the paint shop cause I was in town. I took my rear wing in Wed. for paint and the said it would be done today. Sitting right where I set it was my untouched wing. WTF now they said it would be donee Mon so I told them I would pick it up Wed. Doesn't anybody stick to promissed delivery times? Why do we ask for projected finish times?:shakes head:

kenchan 05-06-2011 07:52 PM

If its at a local collision shop they don't make much $ painting a wing vs collision repair. Priority is very low...almost doing u a favor. :(

How involved was it?

kenchan 05-06-2011 10:25 PM

There's a diy for that. Took me 15min or so. It's a must have for me cause of allergies in the spring time. :D

370zproject 05-06-2011 11:08 PM

put a tiny scape in the front bumper

Fire 05-07-2011 03:44 AM

They do a mix of both. They have a Willy's coupe and a new Camaro in there. It isn't the legnth of time it takes it is the fact that they tell me Fri and I asked if he was sure and he said yes. If it will take longer just say a week instead of 3 days.

kenchan 05-07-2011 07:55 AM

Fire- i see...hope he keeps his promise this time!

No z action for me today...maybe tomorrow. :D

Start polishing!

onzedge 05-07-2011 08:47 AM

Nothing happening with the Z today. I am contemplating rear fog light install for tomorrow.

kenchan 05-07-2011 08:50 AM

Sounds like fun onzedge. I recommend doing the rear camera at the same time. :D

I don't think there is a value-add for me regarding the rear camera. I don't care where I have been, only where I am and where I am going.

red6spd 05-07-2011 10:14 AM

TaKing her out for a little drive, then giving her a wash and covering her up in the garage until ZDayZ. Gonna wax her as well over the next couple of days.

Have you put paint protector on before? If so, can you tell me how difficult/easy it is? I've been considering get the pre-cut kit fir the front end.

Davey 05-07-2011 01:20 PM

Today, I carefully avoided it while getting the lawnmower out. :eekdance:

Yesterday, I checked the oil for the first time. It was about 1/4 quart low (800 miles) so not bad for a brand new motor. I topped it off, no funnel, and I spilled a little oil. Oops.

Drove it to work, got grass blown all over the side of it, so I gave my baby its first bath, not really a full detail job but I got all the crud off, then me and the old lady went for a drive and I put another 50 miles on it, I'm just past 900 now. :driving:

7 screws. Took me about 10 minutes for everything.

Yep I do my own clearbra install so putting on a slap of straight clear is very easy.
I think this site still has how to but anyway, the biggest tip of the day is ALWAYS keep your finger tips wet with solution when handling the adhesive side. :) otherwise you get permanent finger prints on the clearbra.

Nothing! She's asleep :)

happytheman 05-07-2011 05:24 PM

Gave my Z a single bucket wash without rinsing her off first, dropped my natural sponge (only to pick it up thereafter to continue on without rinsing) on the driveway while rinsing each panel and since I was washing while in the sun....the darn soap kept getting dried before I could rinse. :(

After all was said and done I dried my Z off with some old t-shirt I found on the garage floor that I used to wear while mowing the lawn and laying on the driveway under my last car! I had to shake the dirt out first before rubbing it on my clean car (didn't want to scratch the paint you know)!!

All in all, a good day!! ;)

kenchan 05-07-2011 05:58 PM

i LOL'ed. :D bad job!~

I think you should

happytheman 05-07-2011 06:13 PM

I believe it would be well received by the community. A real Public Service Announcement, if you will!

kenchan 05-07-2011 06:46 PM

G2Z- did your nismo knob come with that black base that fits between the knob and boot? :)
