Well, I was going to take pics of the rear hatch this afternoon so you guys could see how it looks after repaint, but a wind/dust storm rolled in so it will have to wait until tomorrow or Saturday. Also, my Stillen front lip came in today :D Can't wait to get that on. After that my first round of little mods will be complete

when you install the stillen splitter typeone recommended that you buy your own hardware (nuts/washers/bolts) to mount it to your bumper. :)

Some ******* ran into my car in the PX parking lot and ran.

kenchan 12-01-2011 05:42 PM

SES light came on the bros Z the other day. Idle was at 1k, dealer hooked up black box and took it for drive with box connected. Readings said the car had backfired.....not. They called NNA tech support, they said check all grounding wires. They found the ground wire from engine to firewall, they cover was corroded. Bad connection. Cleaned and secured connection, reset ecu. runs like a champ. Moisture probably.....too many car washes.....haha

That blows! Sorry to hear it man. Was it bad (well...no damage is good...but you know what I meant)?

happytheman 12-01-2011 07:59 PM

Say, what's the general consensus on the Z1 spacers?

Hub-centric, solid.

It looks like the damage is limited to the fascia, so you can say it's not bad. Should be able to change the front plate.

sfearl1 12-01-2011 08:48 PM

Gah, sorry to hear that man. Fascia can be replaced though, doesn't look bad. Still a bummer.

Got my AAM short tails on the car and it is a night and day difference! Under acceleration it does get loud, but once you settle into a cruise it quiets down quite a bit. I didn't have the stereo on, but I don't think I will have to raise the volume any.

Tint the tail lights SLIGHTLY. Don't be completely illegal and make them Darth Vader style. Just something subtle.

Mine are 15mm and 20mm as well but from Z1.

I will be doing some work on the Z this weekend but not sure what all I will do now vs. wait for another time. Probably will do the spacers, and springs.

BTW thanks to all that posted posititve remarks above.

Sheet of .025 Aluminum and industrial velcro from Lowes; less than $20. Paint to suit.

I changed my diff oil today and ScGRacer stopped by in his white Nismo to do the same. I have 27k on my car and figured it was about time to do the change. Redline was not available locally so we each grabbed two quarts of Royale Purple 75W90 which claims to be great with LSD's and is both GL-4 and GL-5 compatible. I'm sure you don't have to change it so early but it's piece of mind.

I'm under my car, ScGRacer helping out.

Installed Z1 post-maf tubes just now

Follow up to above issue. idle air voluem learn would not take. disconnected one of mass air flow sensor and performed closed throttle learn. reattemp idle volume air learn and it took. cleared codes, found no codes returned. checked ecm grounds, as it could be related to closed throttle learn to be lost. Found light corrosion on engine ground strap from motor to firewall. Cleaned and retorqued...tested runs fine.

So wierd....

Yeah I plan on tinting the red part a little bit but not the white....I like the contrast a little bit. Also might paint the headlight cans so i can still enjoy my bright headlights but tone down the look a little bit.

Track day for the nismo today (and tomorow)

Wifey finished up her first of a two day track event at Daytona today.

Her inputs so far:

1. Fuel starve occured with 6 dots down from full (must fill the tank up after every session to prevent/delay this). I asked her to run a session w/o a full tank so we could find out when it occurs just since I was curious.

2. Running PS2 tires, vastly improved over the stock tires (which were on for the last 4 track days). towards the end of the fourth session, they did begin to get "greasy" but for 3 1/2 30min sessions they were good.

3. Brake fluid started to overheat toward the end of the 4th session (spongy pedal). Running motul rbf 600. Damn brakes on this car run so hot.

4. top speed on the front straight was 140mph. She said she's lifting and not going flat out since at around 140 on this track, the car starts to get "light". If she was to go flat out and have a perfect run, she/I recon top speed would be about 150mph.

5. She out drove a GT3 in the infield and after 3 laps he finally relented and let her pass him, then she put some distance on him and never saw him again that session.

6. Z06 blew it's motor on one session right in front of her and sprayed oil all over the front of the car, no one hurt or wrecked tho.

7. She's one of the slowest cars out there in her group, (mostly Z06s, GT3s, GT3rs, F430s, F430 scuderia, GT2s, etc) BUT in the infield, where driving skill and handling trump/equalize horsepower differences, she's kicking a$$. :)
