Thanks!
That location is under a bridge and it's a popular location for shooting cars, models and suburban kids with no street smarts trying to score drugs. It goes without saying that it can be a little dodgy shooting there! During weekday hours, it's a parking area for State Employees and at night it's just not a safe place to hang out. On top of that, the passageways between the bridge arches are open to traffic at all hours, so you need a spotter even at 7am on a Sunday morning!

The finished shot was worked on quite a bit.
The attachment is an untouched test shot that shows where the light was coming from as well as all the signage that was removed from the pic. Much to my disappointment, The State had just recently painted over the graffiti, destroying the gritty urban background I was hoping for.

I got my Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires yesterday. Thank you Onzedge for your recommendation. I had 7250 on my original Bridestones. This is the most expensive set of rubber I've ever owned at $1680 with an alignment. Thats $0.23 per mile. The day I bought the car I remember asking myself "I wonder how much 19" tires will cost?", knowing that increasing from 16" to 17" added a bit.

Oh well you pay to play and I am playing.

7250?!?!?!
That's playing hard!

When buying my Z, I knew what I was getting into as far as tyres were concerned. The week I picked up my car, I labeled an envelope "tyre fund" and put it on my dresser next to where I keep my keys. Every day when I come home from work, I make a contribution to the envelope so that I'm not worried about the price tag when it's time for new rubber. I love having a job where I get tips!

hahaha. :D those secret funds are called hesokuri in japanese. :D

i too have a virtual maintenance fund where it accumulates each month automatically in my bank account. :) basically the lump some for me just falls into individual mini-accounts inside my allowance so i dont have to worry about anything. like money for dining and misc, gas money, car parts/maintenance fund, new car fund, music gear fund accumulates separately. this is why i dont discuss about buying a new car or car parts with my wife cause it all comes from within my allowance. she doesn't care. :p

Very clever to plan ahead. :tiphat:

I am going to Sears point Infinion Raceway for the Jim Russell School on how to drive your own car properly. My tires were below the tread limit so the timing was perfect. The chances of getting 7250 miles out of these new tires will be reduced by my track day Aug 20th.

Took a vid of my Z's exhaust rattle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<iframe width="853" height="510" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mL8V-oKCbv8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

elmz 08-04-2011 12:50 PM

That sucks, I have the same issue with the stock exhaust but much worse. I think its some sort of bracket, brace, or packing inside that came loose or broke off. I hope you can get it fixed or replaced.

kenchan 08-04-2011 01:04 PM

nitex- i'll need to take a look later... but you have the HKS exhaust, right? is it hitting the heat sheild somewhere? or maybe that black plate on the passenge side? i had to remove mine to get the fujimura to fit.

Alchemy 08-04-2011 02:07 PM

So doin my UpRev tuesday basically finished my to do list on my Z. Im already dying for more mods. Gonna finally get to some little stuff, GTR start button, rear fog. Also looking into this spoiler, Aero Jacket type III, thoughts??

Ken, the emmisions canister shield thing was removed on the passenger side. Im not sure about the heat shield though.

Thing is, that section of the exhaust was removed, and the sound replicated with out it attached to anything.

*EDIT - I sent THMotorsports another email with the video i posted above and this was his response.

"Hey Ryan,

After watching the last video you sent me. Have you tried pulling out the silencer to see if the noise goes away? Please let me know, it almost seems like the silencer could be the culprit. Also, warranty work will be handled by HKS Japan that is correct. The item would be shipped to them and then inspected and shipped back over. Please pull out the silencer and see if it resolves the issue.

Thanks in advance,

^ LOL... amen to that. Likewise...

Nitex, sorry to hear about that rattle. BTW, the video linky no workee for mee-ie...

Keep me posted on the fix, as I want to know what to do in the event my invidia ever acts up like that.

Alchemy, that is one sharp Chicane Z. Friend of yours? or just random Z shot? And as for the spoiler, I actually like that a lot. Has more character than the OEM one.

But seriously... Silencers?? sigh..

kenchan 08-04-2011 02:57 PM

hey nitex- if that is the silencer rattling and if you need to keep it on there, you can turn the silencer just a tad to make more friction with the pipe by loosening the mounting screw, turning the silencer just a tad, and tightening the screw back up. :)

Hrrmmm Oddly i remember when AK got his HKS Hi power, and everyone said.. DUDE remove them silencers.... And everyone replied with a resounding "This exhaust does not have silencers"

I could be very wrong about this, and now im hoping i am. Because ill just remove them if this is true.

Nick911sc 08-04-2011 03:10 PM

What constitutes OG? My join date is Feb 2009 :-D

FromG2Z 08-04-2011 03:22 PM

^ I think to qualify as OG, you must be into photography, have what others think is a GREAT lawn, and able to quote other threads in this thread.

So in that case, I am OG!!!

( Click to show/hide )
I really do NOT know what OG means.... lol

Nick911sc 08-04-2011 03:25 PM

I think I qualify per my discussions in the photography forum!

But OG usually means original gangster... Someone who was around from the beginning.

Nitex 08-04-2011 03:33 PM

Haha! im definately not one of the original crew, some of them being semtex, RCZ, AK and many others. I did read the forum for awhile before i purchased and joined however

Ok ill have to do some digging to see if this exhaust does in fact have silencers. I know i can remove the tips easily as they remove with the bolts sticking out from the sides of the tips.

BeachZTT 08-04-2011 03:37 PM

Although I have an early join date, I was a lurker for the most part until we actually got the roadster. Spent most of my time ont twinturbo.net from the time I bought the TT in 2001 until then.

Now I am so freaking busy, I don't spend much time on here. Love this thread though and do my best to keep up (failing miserably this week).

Nice!! After all this tripod talk Im getting a Manfrotto as well. Debating between monopod and tripod. Most likely going tripod. Its amazing what some of their top of the line stuff goes for. I mean $500 for a tripod!? Crazy.

FromG2Z 08-04-2011 04:24 PM

I can't wait to get home.... My order of Infinite Hero Oakley Split Jackets just arrived!!! :yum: Then, I will put them on, rock it, then go for a drive in the Z.... I need to wear a purple shirt though, to match.
