SPOHN 10-04-2011 01:04 PM

Just setup two appointments for my car in a couple of weeks. One for an alignment and another to install my wing. Getting both done on the same day.

ZeeingAround 10-04-2011 01:14 PM

Took mine out of the garage yesterday only to watch the Check engine light come on. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWK!

Mr. Kenchan -- I am still in San Diego at the Laboratory Animal Sciences conference -- good times unless you happen to be a rat, mouse, pig or monkey. I tagged along with my favorite nerd scientist Mrs. (Dr.) onzedge. It gave me a chance to go visit Coronado where I went to junior high and high school and also get some photo work in. I will post in the DSLR thread when I get back.

I miss the Z's badly. I drove an Impala for a couple of days and if you ever wonder how GM got in the shape it is in today, then rent one. Geez.

wow, sounds exciting! looking forward to your picts. :)

yah, i go on biz trips often and i just HATE driving normal-folk rental cars. last time i was thrown into driving some mitsuschit endeavor and when i got back in my Z i was like wooooaaaahhh.

wat, you live in michigan. that's normal for domestics, no? :icon17:

do you have a OBD2 scanner? they're pretty cheap on amazon. :)

TheGreatOne 10-04-2011 03:32 PM

Nothing. Bummed a lift into work today, been raining and nasty, just not as fun to drive the Z in this

Not to mention, after being lowered, I'm hitting something on the way out of the Condo Underground Parking, sounds like its exhaust piping, not the usual deflectors which sit about an inch off the ground now lol...so making my in and outs of the garage count lol.

brucelidat 10-04-2011 03:52 PM

Was picking up lunch at the supermarket and a lady with an older Prius asked if I wanted to trade cars.

me: "No thanks. You get way better gas mileage."

her: "Some days, I just don't care."

One should make ins and outs of all types count -- not just the garage variety, IMO.

Waiz 10-04-2011 06:46 PM

Got rained on all day today after washing it just two days ago :(

At least it's clean so the rain won't show as much afterwards.

Lucky you!

Fire 10-04-2011 10:32 PM

Kewl Spohn. Hope you have a great time. Chin Motorsports is the group that will allow verts in it's class providing they meet certain criteria which I think my car will. I have to buy a helment and do a test to be sure. I want to attend one of their events next year at Watkins Glen providing my finances are better than this year.:ugh2:

haitech 10-05-2011 01:07 AM

Washed clayed and waxed as well! side note: Has anyone had the wonderful experience yet, of working with Turtle Wax's ICE line "Liquid Clay Bar" ? I believe it's actually produced in Heaven! The stuff seriously works mind bogglingly well!! A buddy of mine had a dripping pipe in his garage that he was unaware of until he saw the horrid water stains on the hood of his black 300ZX. He told me he was planning on getting it painted to correct the eye sore. Because of my past experience with this stuff, I suggested using it to see if it would get rid of it, I was even skepticle because they were pretty bad water stains! Low and behold, it worked. I swear by it!

LunaZ 10-05-2011 07:41 AM

Gonna give her a proper bath and look underneath to see how many experience points I earned in NYC.

Alchemy 10-05-2011 08:44 AM

Gonna wash mine after work as well. Havent washed in weeks due to all the rain. It literally has mud caked on the side from getting detoured around down power lines last week. The detour sent me down this dirt, well mud road. I bottomed out harder than I ever thought imaginable as well. I was like:eek: So she is in need of a major wash. Its by far the filthiest its ever been :(

mrcoolguyface 10-05-2011 09:17 AM

My washing routine...

Local car wash is it.

This stuff will be useful in the winter here in the mid-atlantic when I have all the hoses shut off to prevent the pipes from freezing!

I'm in the same boat and have been using Griot's Waterless Car Wash with great results. You need a ton of microfiber towels but the results are quite good.

I take the wife's MDX to the $4 carwash on Kirby and they are fantastic. I'm just afraid of tearing up a rim on the guide rails with the Z.

Mike

Daveski38 10-05-2011 12:11 PM

Thanks Ken,

What about road grime? Is that why you suggested all the towels.

We finally started getting rain, but only small cells. Enough to trash the car but not enough to end the restrictions.

"Washed" mine last week for Cars and Coffee after the storm last Thursday, and it came out great.

yah, i spray a liberal amount, let it soak for about 4-5 sec then wipe off using only the clean part of that green MF towel they show. only wipe in vertical (top to bottom) motion, one pass. then turn the towel over, make another pass on a new section. after you get most of the grime off, take a fresh towel, spray lightly once again and wipe off the entire panel. :) becareful that the floor could get pretty slick if you're on tiles or smooth concrete from the over spray and drip.

i follow up with some QD at the end but not necessary. i dont recommend using this product on glass, but it wont hurt anything. i use WindowCleaner for glass. :D

it's a great product and if you use a lot of fresh towels you wont risk swirling the finish. just be smart not to drag your towel over caked on mud for instance.

Why yes!

If you take your car to a traditional Nylon Brush car wash, your car will in fact come out the other end as a caricature of its former self! Someone give KenChan & Alchemy a pretzel rod, and a balloon!:werd:
