I figured I would just freshen up the Z with a bit of polishing today, not that there were any swirls but it has been about a year since I last polished it. I went over everything below the windows including the roof (polished and sealed the roof, A pillars and hatch recently) with some Meguiar's 205 polish, a grey Lake Country CCS pad and my PC 7424 since using a rotary generates too much heat which doesn't play nicely with PG paint for some reason.
I love perfect paint, metallics really pop when the paint is properly prepped! |

Please tell me you've got those sound clips before you modify your intake/exhaust any further? Yes? No? Maybe?:) |

hello mr.onzedge! the TWM's satin one does not get nearly as hot as polished knobs. seems to reject heat better. the stock knob is not bad at all. i liked it (past-tense cause mine got :owned: during removal :crying: ) Quote:

yah, the nismo one is definitely good. but it's very slim so make sure you like that joystick-like feel. ive always been more of a ball/type-R knob guy but the nismo made the shift very solid and crisp for me so im keeping mine for a while. Quote:

yikes... invitation for keyed doors. :D hahaha

Kewl deadman enjoy your ride. :driving:
Today I installed my smart top. Once again something Nissan should have done at the factory. Soo many kewl things I can do with my key fob now :excited: Also got my garage door to work from my car. Programming these things are tricky sometimes. Got the car detailed and wind deflector tinted yesterday. Today going to a big cruise night at Twin Lakes Drive In in Perry NY. Things are looking Z for me today :happydance: |
^^ sounds like fun, Fire!
yah, i hate programming those garage door openers with rolling codes. i keep forgetting how i did it last time. :D |

I drove my 370 for the first time in a week today -- also the first real drive with my new clutch return spring. I am liking it quite a bit. If you have not done this mod, you must (auto trans guys need not apply).
|
Parked between 2 motorcycles today.. I need a sticker on my car saying my other ride is an R1. Or something like that..
On the TWM to stock conversion. I went back to my stock knob from the TWM piston. Stock just feels better in the hand, and isnt cold all winter long. Thing is i cant get it seated tight enough now. It has some twist in it i just cant seem to get rid of. |
Onze can't I put the springs on the torque converter? Or maybe on the paddle shifters? Has to be a way to make this mod work LOL

is the clutch spring something that can be DIY? My Z is my only manual car so I don't really know any other clutch feeling. Might just keep it stock..

I know it's been covered a few times. But what exactly are the benefits? More feel to the clutch travel instead of just a numb clutch in and clutch out without really knowing where the friction point is?

Is there a DIY thread anywhere for the spring? Curious to see what has to be done in order to install it.

Thanks!!
What's the cost for one of those springs? Can I get one myself? I'm such a wimp I might not even want to do the mod in fear of me damaging something haha |
Oh, and on the shifter issue. I really hadn't thought about the heat/cold part. I guess because I have never had a metal shifter before. Great point!
I am still partial to the shape, feel, and material of the Z32TT shifter... http://www.the370z.com/members/beach...tt-shifter.jpg |
Nick, the reason that we are trying to get another group buy together is that we have been unable to find anyone to sell that spring in a low quantity for a reasonable price. If we do a group buy, it will be between 15-20 bucks shipped. If you try to order one, they charge almost 60 with setup fees and shipping. If a reputable, existing vendor would buy a large quantity of them, it wouldn't be an issue. Right now, no one stocks them.

So I'm curious, other cars I've felt the clutch on that were manual, when you engage and disengage there's a part in the clutch travel where the clutch travel has a totally different "stiffness" to the clutch past a certain point. Is that what this is going to add?

Hello Mr Kenchan. I think you need 3 rubberbands to make it work.
|
Sup kenchanman?
|
I originally learned to drive stick on my dads 1978 porsche 911sc and the cabled clutch on that thing gives a super over exaggeration of what I'd assume the pedal will feel like. That clutch is heavier than anything else I've driven before.
