Wow, I don't log on for 1 day, and I am treated to 3 pages of catching up... hehe.

No Z action for me today... got her retinted yesterday, so letting that dry up. I'm also considering getting a viper alarm set. Anyone have that? They have ones now that have a 2 way transmitter so you know if your car is going off, from a mile away, or an app for your smart phone for you to arm it, get notified if a window is broken, tilted 3degrees or more for wheel jacking, and just when it's going off. I am even tempted to get the proximity sensor, with a loud siren stating "GET THE F*** AWAY FROM THE CAR". although that would probably cause me even MORE unwanted attention.:ugh2: |
G2Z- on the tint, hope to see picts. :)
yah, tilt sensors are hell of a lot more functional than wheel locks. no z action for me either today. just glaced over at her this am. :yum: |
Ok, so I took the ZR to the have the 15k service done and picked up the loaner. 2011 Altima base model. Yuk. Anyway, I pulled the Z up to the drop off bay and stepped out of the car. The attendant girl looked me in the eye and said "Man, that thing is sexy!" I thanked her and told her it was a lot of fun.
So when I went back to pick it up I had to wait for my service advisor to get off the phone with another customer. As we were talking, I noticed she was staring over my shoulder. She stopped mid sentence, paused for a moment, and said "I'm sorry. That car is so freaking hot, I can't stand it." I realized she was looking through the glass into the drop off bay at the roadster. :happydance: |

Say, did you strip the tint yourself, or have it done? If you had it done, would you care to share on how much they charged? Also, what %age did you go with? I'm in for pics! :pics: Proximity sensing noise makers will def cause more troubles than it's worth, but the tilt and glass breakage is awesome. I had a Viper on my last vehicle and was able to program it to do all kinds of goodies automatically, like roll down or up the windows and pop the door locks in a particular order (1 press for driver and 2 for all doors), and pop the trunk glass or hatch with a separate button! It was awesome! If I wanted to, I could've had it open or close the moonroof too! |

Happy, the cost to remove the old ones were 25 bucks. Cheap. I'm sure I could have done them myself, but eh... better safe than sorry. The one I went with was 35%. Here's a pic I just took tonight in the garage, but more tomorrow at our big car meet. This pic had flash on... it should look lighter in the sunlight. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...DSC_0109-1.jpg I also modified that one pic that Ken said looked bad, so hopefully this is better. ;) http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ternoplate.jpg Quote:
Beach cool story... yeah that seems to be a common theme with our Z's. |
Looks great G2Z!
Hmm, I'm thinking of re-doing my tint as well. Did you take any preventative measures to keep the windows from sneaking down when you open the doors? |
^ hey happy! No, I did not have to do anything. According to the tint folks, they are fully aware of the nissans/infinitis having their windows lower upon opening and raising upon closing. Should be fine and no damage or movement they say. And besides, lifetime warranty, so if issues come up, I just bring it back.
|
hey, that tint looks good, G2Z!
no Z action for me today but did glance at her a couple of times this am. :yum: some younger girl in her 20's was checking out my cars yesterday while walking around the neighborhood with her guy. she even glanced back a few times after passing by my house. :D funny the guy looked like he didn't care. yah you want one too sonny. lol |

No action till Saturday

I'd like to join this fray if I may :hello:
I just added the OEM 370Z Rear Spoiler (linky) to my '09 370Z. After much deliberation over which spoiler to bolt onto my baby I decided to finally plunk down my hard-stolen cash on the OEM unit. It's subtle yet sublime, adding an understated aggressive aesthetic improvement to the already sexy rear  Next up- a tasty after market exhaust! |

Today was the first time I got pulled over in my Z. While getting onto Hwy 100 here in Cedar Rapids, got on it a bit. Got pulled over by from what I believe to be a detective. He had on a coat and tie and was wearing his badge on his belt. Asked for my license, checked me out, and because I had a clean record just gave me a warning. Told me to try and not squeal the tires too much. He did compliment me and said the car looked really nice. Did mention that it would be hard not to get on it once in awhile with my car. I thanked him and went on my way.

after watching tongman's vid and DIY for the plasti-dip black emblems i think i want to do this too on my Z. :p would match my silver/CF/black theme well. the only thing chrome right now are the emblems and it doesn't match anything. :icon14:

So today we went to a big local meet... met up with 3 Z's, along with other buddies. There were quite a few cars there. Good turnout. Also found a good pic opportunity, and able to show you guys my new tint. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...LITHIAMEET.jpg |

next morning i went to the PDR place and within 15 min the guy pushed out the ding and told me i shouldn't have touched the ding cause it distorted the metal and made it that much harder to fix. that's when i decided to take PDR training and buy about $1.5K worth of tools. :p with the amount of dings i fixed the tools and training paid itself off very quickly. even a ding would keep me up at night on my fun car... can't imaging wat a deer scuff would do. hahahaha. :D :icon14: G2Z- nice shot!! i think you're back in business. hahaha. :D |
thanks Ken! Not sure if I should invest into PDR and training yet. I would love to! But I think the wife thinks I have enough "hobbies" already :)
thanks for props on photo. Did you see the C6 photo in the DSLR thread? That might be my fave not-my-own shot.... hehe Today, no Z action... rain today. Been nice all week I guess it's time for some rain... |
Yep, rain here too. No roadster action for me. I did drive the Z32TT though. I need to get a POS daily driver. Actually, my son leaves for school in two weeks and can't take his Civic. I may be driving it on days like today. Best it doesn't sit anyway.
Tint looks great g2z! |

Yes, a POS is a must... even $1000 beater is just fine. Never washed, just change oil. I had that once...a 1993 Ford Ranger rust bucket. Started EVERYtime. Twas awesome. |

will check out the C6 picts later on. been in my music room all night last night fiddling around with a new music software i installed on my new MBP. beach - civic is perfect for dd! i hate taking my G to kid's camp and picking them up afterhours. :ugh2: worst is having to stop by the supermarket on the way home to pickup something... :ugh2: clean cars are like invitation to get keyed. |
Got home Last night from taking a trip to Mammoth Mtn. Finally got pulled over by CHP on the way up. I was ONLY doing 80 in a 65. And i talked him into only giving me a tint ticket...it was my lucky day. Good trip...I recommend stopping by the Mammoth Brewing Co. Fishing sucked while I was there though :(
