spend 110 euro on cleaning products.

started cleaning at 4:30 PM stopped now at 9:22 PM

washed, foam washed, clayed, waxed, cleaned rims and exhaust, leather cleaning products on the inside, used products to refresh all the plastic in the car.

only thing that I couldn't get done were the windows, used degreaser/windows cleaner products still leaving marks and stuff.

Try using clay bar on the glass also. Use a quality glass cleaner and lint free microfiber and you shouldn't see marks. You'd be surprised how dirty the glass really is.

kenchan 02-14-2011 04:01 PM

clay is good stuff on glass, also try RainX. that thing has some werd (strong) cleaning agents.

Vegitto-kun 02-14-2011 04:05 PM

I tried the clay, didn't do much,

you know what was most effective?

a ******* newspaper. roll it up and rub hardcore.

they don't sell rainX here well I never seen it atleast.

I am impressed with the clay bar. never used one before, nobody here knows about them. car is smooth as hell now.

everything I bought was meguiars.

meguiars Gold class car wash & conditioner
meguiars smooth surface clay kit
meguiars gold class liquid wax.

going to try the not liquid wax(forgot what its called) when this bottle is empty.

there are different abrasive levels of clay. some are softer than others.

try magic eraser on your glass then. it's a foam polish. im sure your mom has it in the kitchen for her dishes and stove tops? DONT use it on paint though. :)

Ordered vanity plates today.
Massachusetts has the worst limits on what you can put on them..

"Numbers cannot be used in the middle of a plate; they must come at the end.
The first number cannot be a "0".
The letters "I", "O", "Q", and "U" can ONLY be used as part of a word that is clearly defined and correctly spelled.
No spaces are allowed.
All plates must start with at least two letters.
They may contain a maximum of six characters."

What did you actually come up with then? Or did I miss it?

sucasa 02-15-2011 10:34 AM

Last night.. DYI project.

Rustproofed my undercarriage. If you guys take a look underneathe your car, you will certainly see corrosion started to form on the flanges which bolt the exhaust to the mid pipe, and possible other components..

My exhaust flanges were turning orange. I went to the dealer and wanted to know if this is normal for a car with less than 700 miles bought two months ago. and they said 'yeap, we know. It's common. It is what it is'. It's only surface corrosion. Classy response from the dealer :(

I did some research online and chatted w/ other car guys. I went to a autoparts store, got the rustoleum flat black rust protectant. No primer needed. Got the car in the garage, slipped underneathe, and sprayed the corrosive parts. I put on two coats, dried in about 45 minutes completely. this morning checked out the results.. looks mucccccccch better.. Maybe it's me, but, I can't stand the fact i was seeing orange corrosion on a new car, and likelihood it would be getting worse, not a good thought..

I don't have an oil cooler installed so I cant really comment on that but I don't think it would be much of a problem especially with a strap wrench. Off the car I didn't think the trap door was large enough but once I installed it I could see it gave plenty of access and the door is completely removable.

Drove it to work.

ClemsonWill 02-15-2011 04:20 PM

I drove my Z to work today, too. Now I'm looking out the 3rd floor window admiring her as the sun goes down.

UGH

I can see where they are coming from. Can't have people running around with plates that are hard to read like "OU1LLIQ" or "ILLUQ1O".
In Germany, they use special fonts to make sure that the letters are easy to read and cannot be altered by the plate holder:

Got my AEM intakes installed at Amplified Motorsports today. Those guys are awesome! Thanks Lou!

Red__Zed 02-15-2011 11:52 PM

Took it out on the back roads to enjoy the sound of the new exhaust.

Dembflyr 02-17-2011 10:10 AM

I swapped my Berk HFC's with CNT resonated test pipes. Made it a teeny bit louder but no rasp!
I also put in a TWM shift knob and installed my switch panel that will control my headlight LED's, when I get them done, and my rear fog light.

I love toggle switches. I think it is because of the XKE. Nice job.

As far as today, I turned off my VDC in the rain and started from a stop on a steep hill. I had more than a bit of wheel spin. The rest of the ride was fine.

Junior370z 02-18-2011 08:03 PM

I just finished installing the spc toe bolts. Grinding the holes bigger sucked donkey balls! Going to get it realigned tomorrow morning. They should be able to adjust my camber closer to stock. Yes!

Junior370z 02-19-2011 06:35 PM

Had my alignment done.

Hmm, the ejector seat sounds like a good idea. :D

I wanted total control over the lights. The first one on the left is a three position switch for the main power. Up will be battery, middle is off and down is ignition. The next one is also a three position for the demon eye. Up will be red, middle is off and down blue.
The next three are just on-off for angel eye, landing strip and rear fog light.
The rear fog light has been modified to a two filament bulb and will be on whenever the tail lights are on and will get brighter when I flip the switch.
I will also have the angel eye and demon eye turn off whenever I turn the headlights on.
The schematic that I have drawn up has nine relays because I didn't want any power going through these switches.
I need to get home and work on this. I should be home Tuesday morning but I'm back out Wednesday for a couple of days.
Hopefully done with the headlights by the end of the month. Then its on to the springs and sways.

Got a lot to do before spring. :ughdance:

Picked my car up from Forged after getting corner balance and alignment. Rides great. Have a small rubbing issue up front. But thats no issue for my coilovers. Just raise it up.

PapoZalsa 02-19-2011 10:28 PM

Washed, vacuum and wax the car yesterday. Today took the car to C & C Williamsburg, VA. Nice to drive the car after like 4 weeks of sitting in the garage.

TheGreatOne 02-19-2011 10:36 PM

I couldn't take it anymore, I brought her outside for 10 minutes :happydance:

Technically the law is you can't drive without winter tires between December 15 to March 15th here. Its a super dry day, just extremely cold.

I've only driven it home from the dealer, so I wanted to test out getting in and out of my steep underground condo garage.

Getting out:
Getting in, scraped a bit :ugh2: Need to work on angles...don't think i scraped the first time i went in

Took her down the street, got some stares then brought her back in.....sigh

EazyD 02-20-2011 09:53 AM

Brought it to a touchless carwash (per AK370Z's advice during the cold days). I made the mistake of choosing "THE WORKS!" package for an extra $2. They sprayed blue conditioner crap all over the car and it didn't completely rinse off. Not to mention all of the leftover in the door sill, trunk crevices, etc. They let me go through the basic wash again free, but it didn't get it out of the crevices.

SPOHN 02-20-2011 09:58 AM

Hand wash is the only way. You can't treat your car better than that? LOL

^^ no access to a hose :/ Apartment complex. Shame on me for trusting the forum owner

AK's post: http://www.the370z.com/detailing-was...tml#post531452

DO NOT LIKE! But seriously, what was I to do in freezing temps with no access to washing at home?

mick 02-20-2011 10:36 AM

visited the gas station :)
the car says the rate of fuel consumption is 19.7 mpg
but according my calculations it's 14.9 mpg (miles driven=157.5/gallons filled up=10.571)

Did you reset the mpg reading on the computer after you filled up? Otherwise it will just keep reading average mpg from it last milage point. Which means it could average usage from the previous fill up. That thing isn't as accurate as physical measurements anyways. It can change the instant you start to drive a little more sportingly.

I replaced my seriously scraped and broken chin spoiler. I suspect that I am going to consider this part a consumable item. It is time to tear out and replace my spoiler-eating driveway to street transition.

Junior370z 02-21-2011 12:07 PM

Washed and waxed! She looks gooood!

Oh yah got a set of wheels today from my buddy alex over there at TireRack. Haven't unboxed it yet. Saving it for later. :p
