Driving home late last night from a concert ~80 miles away. Patchy fog, mostly deserted rural backroads. After passing a total of about a dozen deer on the side of the road, I woke my wife up with a loud, "Sonofabitch!" followed by three rapid thumps. "What was that?" "A possum."

Cursory inspection this morning revealed no apparent damage despite me dead-centering him. He wasn't that big, and I think he might have gone possum-dead when he saw me coming and lowered himself a bit. When I spotted him he was moving but not quickly. Thank goodness he wasn't any bigger than he was.

I've run over some road kill a while back. The SOB broke both O2 sensor plugs by the tranny. I got the plugs zip-tied and taped together now. :shakes head:

You might want to take a good look under the car. If he left any fur and skin on your exhaust. You'll smell it for a couple of days until it burns off.

What are you smoking? That won't fit under the Z. The wheels are too tall. That thing is for cleaning off the pavement.

Memphis370Z 02-03-2019 07:42 PM

Nothing too exciting, but I installed new side markers since the ring around the edge on the originals were a little worn and ratty-looking. Funny how swapping out such a small thing makes the car look better.

I also installed a new cabin air filter. Not difficult, just time consuming. Changing the filter on the Highlander literally takes two minutes, if that, and there are zero screws to remove.

Won’t those basically be just for show?

There are 3 vents, The big one in the middle he is not showing.

madwi 02-03-2019 09:10 PM

When I had the seibon TS style hood you could see the heat rolling out when stopped. Dropped temps about 8* vs oem hood if I remember correctly.

I don’t have the middle one. But normally there is three pieces to the set, like spooler noted.

Look at Bobby's Z right above on this page. He has the 3 vents.

I would back up again and hit it multiple times. :yum:

That's not a cougar. That's a trophy wife, or a gold digger.

I recently installed the fast intentions catback. The member I had bought it from had cut the resonators in the x-pipe off and I installed it unresonated at first. Without the resonators, this catback drones really bad even for someone that is used to loud cars.

So I had the resonators that were included welded back in and the tone is pretty much exactly the same, it's just about 15% quieter. This video was before I put the resonators back in.

Its been 2 days of 10ish celcius temps. The temptation to drive... ugh. Sat in the car held the wheel and choked back some tears.

Forgot how nice the recaro seats are

Lol. One man's trash is another man's treasure. One man's cougar is another man's wife.

Based on the fact that Red Green is your avatar, shouldn’t you be using duct tape?

Could have used green painters tape for that Christmas effect.

I have one that’s being replaced under warranty for a manufacturing defect. Of course it would snow this much when it’s off the car.

Finally got my 5" Motordyne Burnt Ti tips on the car.

Best part about the install was that I didn't even need to jack the car up.

Exhaust tone has increased and is deeper than before.

Pro-Tip: line your diffuser with some heat reflective tape. That's going to melt, especially if you decide to take it to a track day.

Looking to clay bar and wax my Z this afternoon...if I get around to it :icon14:

A park in my college town has a windy, tree covered road that runs through it.

Me and some other Z owners on campus are going to *peacefully* run the park and rally to a meet this evening. Cant wait!

CRiZO 02-16-2019 06:53 PM

Started sound deadening the hatch before I install the woofer (and just to reduce road noise).

Fun easter egg, not sure if anyone was aware of this:

The Z logo is embossed in the sheet metal in the back, on both sides, under the tail lights.

I did my first interior mod today. I just installed the holder that replaces the three fake buttons on the center console. Easy Peasy! Makes the Z storage console just a little more useful.

Cleaned the rear of the Z up. From drilling out the stock sub-frame bushings, which are filled with silicone. The rear got spatter with silicone and rubber. Made a nice mess. :icon17: Cleaned it and waxed all the way up to the front fenders. Stopped right there. Figure that I'm going to be cutting the fenders shortly for the vents.

The Cerwin Vega one. Still getting it dialed in, but I really like it.

When I first glance at this. I thought it said Cosworth Vega. And I'm going whattt? Haven't seen one of those in years. :driving:

CRiZO 02-21-2019 08:06 AM

I just looked into the SLC 300... they have 240hp. 6 second 0-60.

I'm not one that's all about the numbers, but those numbers are straight out of the 90s for a $50,000 car. Guess it makes sense they're not going to make them anymore.

abm89 02-21-2019 09:47 AM

So...

Last weekend I installed some new baffled catch cans to replace the crappy non-baffled ones I have. I also replaced my fender liners again (thanks Z1 for the good prices). While doing so, I found the source of the burning oil smell... it was the old catch cans. The drain plug must have been leaking a little bit, so I cleaned that up. I also put the track set of wheels on so i can hopefully sell the street set.

This weekend, I'll take the front end off to start some much needed work (but not finish because Anthem is out this weekend)

- take the splitter off and use it as a template for something more durable
- clean the air filters for the intakes
- replace my cooler core with a new one as I see some seepage towards the bottom of the core (away from the AN fittings)
- possibly install a PS cooler
- ship my headlights over to Houston Halos to get new projectors installed with some extra work while the lights are open
- service the cooling system
