I just want you all to know how confused I was earlier when I logged into this thread instead of the "Off Topic" version, and saw all of you actually discussing Z cars instead of EastWest's colon.

Carry on with the good work!

So, what have I done with my Z lately. Have to say I sold it. I am no longer an owner of a 370Z. I enjoyed the car a lot. It was very fun to drive. But, My wife and I are getting older so we decided that we only needed two cars. We kept her car which is a Mazda CX-5. Good for driving in winter here in Iowa. When looking for a replacement, it needed to meet the following requirements: Be able to drive it during the winter, have an auto trans so it is easier for the wife to drive, and also be fun to drive. So, I bought a 2019 KIA Stinger GT to replace the Z. It has lots of room for traveling, can haul 4 adults in comfort, and has plenty of get up and go. It also gets the same gas mileage as the Z. I did get the AWD option so that I can get around better in winter. Do plan on keeping an eye on the forum just to see whats happening.

What I did today to the Z

I installed some mood lighting on the passinger and drivers side door panels. Actually just finished the pass side. It was more of a pain in the *** than what I thought it would be,and what the video's on youtube showed! The wiring gave me fits for a while. I connected the black to the black and the red to the white. It worked great but I couldn't get the LED lighting to auto shut off. I had to switch around the wires until I could find the right cobination so they would shut off once the car was turned off. The only issue now is the LED lighting isn't as bright as it should be when its on. Still looks nice though!
I'll tackle the drivers side tomorrow. Should go a lot faster now that I have the wiring sorted out!
I'm getting anxious to start driving the car again now that spring is right around the corner!:excited:

srbrubak 03-07-2019 09:49 AM

You are referring to the following KIA models: 2011-14 Optima, 2012-14 Sorento, and the 2011-13 Sportage. So if you own any of these cars, be careful and get them checked out.

Upgrading to an Android Auto capable headunit was the best thing i've done for my driving experience.

Same. It makes basically any other music and navigation method feel ancient.

- Redline 75w-90 for the differential fluid change

Should be fun :yum:

Got motor, transmission and differential oils changed this weekend. I will say that if I noticed any change at all, it was decreased transmission chatter. So, good in my book!

New StopTech pads arrive today, so brake fluid bleed will wait until this weekend.

Still have to schedule some “shop” time for the replacement and install of the Z1 differential bushings and Z1 subframe inserts.

Always fun to keep the car “in shape” and up-to-date date with maintenance. Trying to make this bad boy a true survivor!

abm89 03-11-2019 01:51 PM

Converted the catch cans to vent-to-atmosphere. Keeping the hoses I made for the closed loop system in case a track/state requires it.

Replaced alternator and power steering pump last weekend after the alternator decided to start spewing smoke and whining, then installed some dynamat in the hatch to quiet down the rattle from the exhaust....she’s all back to normal now :)

Doing the same.... I’m overly optimistic that I’ll be driving within the next couple weeks. I’m over this snow bs

I'm waiting until end of April at this rate. Rome still has 3 feet on the ground and mounds of salt everywhere. We need a few good rainstorms to wash all the crap away.

On a side note. Get ahold of me this summer so we can go for another cruise. I've had a lot of work done since our last install day.

Lots of rain this week....

Tomorrow (will be near freezing but....) gonna do the first start of year, get tires inflated and gonna gently send it.

Yes there is still some snow mounds. No. I will not be patient!!

mishuko 03-15-2019 07:00 PM

I lied did it now lol. Fml rain tho

PITA to install Whiteline poly differential bushings a few years ago. Found a set of SPL solid bushings in Houston that I will be purchasing

So you going to swap out the Whiteline diff bushing for the SPL diff bushing?

JARblue 03-15-2019 09:51 PM

Yup :eekdance:

I will wait to do them at the same time as the SPL subframe bushings.

When to grab something out of the Z.
Closed the door, and the window motor starts to make a clicking noise (both sides).
Grab keys, go to start the Z.
Doesn’t start, battery dead.
Grab jumper cables, start the Q.
Hooked up the Z, it started.
Let it run for a couple minutes.
Decided hey let’s drive it.
Went to the donut shop, left it locked and running.
Some guy says is that you car?
Reply Yes.
Do you wanna sell it?

What timing! I shut my door last night and the clicking happened to me! Thought I busted some sensors or something!

Yeah it doesn’t get driven a whole lot so I’ve had to jump it before. But never heard that noise before.

Me either. When I shut the door I was like wtf! tried to disconnect the battery as fast as possible. :icon17:
JChammond told it to check the battery too so I tossed it on the charger and I was going to check on it in a few hours.

Yeah seems to have corrected it self, probably the low volts just could not get the window to seal up when door open close. Then it just keeps trying till it does. In this case it wasn’t going to. Probably has been sitting 2/3 months. But after it did start felt good on drive.

Damn thing feels slow compared to the Q but way more nimble that’s for sure.
