Got my car aligned yesterday. We dialed out a ton of camber because I'm not going racing anytime soon. about 2.4 degrees all around and the toe settings are close to the factory specs to minimize tire wear.

I'll have to look into that. It looks OK now, but it needs something else. That knob might do it. Thanks for the tip!

I went a ZCCW meet up and saw some cool Zs. Definitely got some inspiration there…v1 nismos have grown on me a lot, and I think I like them more than v2s. Something about that front bumper is so mean.

I’m also over the Tomei and I’ve only had it for two months…back to ark grip or motordyne I go…it’s not bad with stock cats though…how people I run these with LTHs or TPs is beyond me. I’d definitely have some permanent hearing damage lol.

No hate on anyone that likes the Tomei, it’s just not for me. I’m glad I gave it a shot.

Went to a wedding

My niece got married out of state. I put about 950 miles on the Z over the weekend, about 3/4 of it with the top down. It was good to get out on the road, especially with some good weather and for a happy occasion.:driving::tup:

950 miles is just a short drive around the block. :rofl2: Try 1,200 miles in 19 hrs non-stop. Ogallala Neb. to Brownsville Pa. :driving:

Hope you had fun at the wedding.

You forgot to add that was in 5 feet of snow with 3 flat tires and a blown motor :rofl2:

Bought a new steering wheel today. Nice flat bottom after market one. One question though, do I need to worry about how long I keep the battery disconnected while replacing the steewing wheel? I feel like I remember reading somewhere that leaving the battery d/c for too long messed something up...?

Nah. You'll be fine. I use to leave my disconnected from Oct through May for winter. Only had to reset the clock and drive it a bit to get a passing inspection. Changing the wheel will only take you roughly an hr the first time you do it. And that's taking it extremely slow.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I did 50 years ago. ;) These days my wife and I have to pull into too many of those "rest areas" along the way to make that work anymore.

And, yep, the wedding was a great time!

Howdy all…. Not sure about Lein or Jlar but the skies above me in NJ are noticeably Hazy….saying it’s up in the atmosphere 10-20,000 feet up…smoke from wildfires in mid west…funny thing is you don’t smell any smoke. Weird.

Wrong thread. But it's hazy here as well. Figured it was either from the weather or spark plug boy setting his car on fire down in Queens.

It's a road I drive to work on, so 5days/week. I know it's
surface, the weather was dry and warm. There was only 1 car and no entrance ramp for the next 3 miles. This road is famous for speeding, that truck was going 100+. Minimal risks . These will get worst next year when our only 1/4 mile drag strip closes down.

...back on topic.

Did a pretty thorough engine bay cleaning this afternoon. Been meaning to do this for a while as everything was just kinda covered in crud and dirt and road grime. (And yes, in case anyone was wondering, battery disconnected and negative cable tucked out of the way before I got started.)
I forgot to get a "before" picture, but I think the "after" came out pretty nice.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...08917b63c2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...81034c279b.jpg

Plan D….aka “just get it to work”

Bought a pair harness that was already cut off. But looking at harness in my car, didn’t seem like I would be able to just cut my stock one and replace/attach.

So I use a Ryobi 18v battery solely for the power seat adjustment function, for now. Ghetto style. Seats haven’t been restored yet, haven’t found a shop I feel comfortable with yet.

But at least, they work, they hug me better than the cloth seats, I’m happy for now.

Make sure you have a good metal ground and not just a wire wrapped around a bolt, held down by a nut. That's not good enough.

A Black Z34 07-30-2021 09:23 AM

Ordered gen 3s and berk resonated test pipes to pair with the rice cannon, I mean Tomei…

Now I am also looking at ear plugs, lol.

Excited to hopefully be tuned and full bolt on, though.

I’ve heard wonderful things like a Tomei is twice as loud without cats. Good thing there’s a GT350 and F Type in my building. I’ll try to blend in, lol.

Just tuck that bad boi up high and toight because if you are any kind of lowered you have a high chance of flat spotting the Tomei or even gouging it.

Going to be loud as f*ck and I run Motordyne ART + Shockwave, which is loud as f*ck

Ben370 07-30-2021 11:15 AM

Oil change

Pushed my new radiator hose on the rest of the way to stop a leak that would happen at high revs and cleaned the green mess it made in the engine bay (side tangent: whoever at Nissan named the long-life stuff " blue" was colorblind since it's teal)

Finally pulled my steering lock fuse after 5 years of owning my Z even though the previous owner had his lock replaced

Removed a melted plastic bag that got stuck between my exhaust and W-brace, which explains that burning smell...

Whatever you do, don't install the thunder pipe. Unless you want permanent hearing loss. It's loud AF with my HFCs.

abm89 07-30-2021 03:56 PM

I really should see if that printed test bracket will mount my dash properly so i can give my friend feedback to print the final mount. It's just too damn hot.

FrankEtier 07-30-2021 07:11 PM

Looked at the pile of parts on the work bench to install, then said f it. I’ll wait till it’s not 106 in my garage!
