Was doing 5k mile oil changes, but now that the ride is at 48k, I am switching it up to 3k mile intervals. I went with Motul 8100 Eco-nergy over the Mobil1 that I had used for the last four oil changes (20k miles). Ordered a Blackstone kit and will use it on the next oil change at 51k.

While I was under the car performing a visual inspection on the ART pipes, I noticed the that mid muffler on my Shockwave had a nice cracked weld on the leading edge. No dent, but seems like I knocked something to make it pop.

To fix it, I went with the tried and true JB Weld epoxy putty. Comes in a cylinder with the reactive putty as the core. Knead it to solid color and apply. Ugly fix on a nice exhaust, but $6.99 was perfect for my budget on a Saturday morning. And it did fix the leak. Sound is no longer close to open down pipes at full throttle.

I'll keep an eye on it, but don't think I'll be taking the muffler off to get the weld fixed or ordering a replacement through Motordyne anytime soon. If anything, I may spend a project day to sand down the putty a bit. I Play Doh'd it up to ensure a nice and solid seal.

If you don't reweld it. The crack will keep getting bigger.

If that JB weld doesn't melt, he will probably be fine. That sh*t is super durable. One of our displays when i was slinging parts was of a penny stuck in a block of the stuff.. you couldn't pull that sh*t out even with a vicegrip.

A drive in the Brecon Beacons

Well, it wasn't today as it took a while to edit it all... But recently, took my son for a drive in the 370z Nismo searching for some of the best driving roads in the UK, the kind of roads you see in Top Gear and The Grand Tour... Starting in the Brecon Beacons, Wales. We absolutely loved it! Apart from the sheep and horses that jump out in front of you 😬

A piece of jewelry showed up today. Thanks to "jrb55gh" for the great price and quick shipping.

Washed the Z, then took it for its oil change. On the way is a nice twisty road. Smashed the throttle through some curves. What a fun car to drive.

Herpes? I hear that goes away with some betadyne and judicious use of a paint scraper.

That’s old school! My first reaction was blech... kinda growing on me now (like mold)?

Definitely needs dark tint on the side glass. Do they make one for the back glass?

URI 10-19-2019 04:21 PM

Yeah, I was humming and hawing at them and realized how do I freakin clean the glass. They go on with 3M death tape.

URI 10-19-2019 04:24 PM

And they come white and unpainted, and oh, they cost $130, and oh, they might get loose and blow off at 100 MPH

URI 10-19-2019 04:39 PM

The SoCal Zociety guys have a bunch of old school hatch louver members for late model Z's. It's crazy the revival has carried over to late model Mustangs like the old 302 Boss. The concept of rear louvers was before window tint came around, so from a functionalist perspective it's a minus for air drag.

Well, in that case it’s a NO for me. :icon17:

Raidernation 10-23-2019 02:21 PM

Finally washed away a months worth of dirt and bug splatter off of the Z. It's so much nicer driving a clean car.
