The day after posting this, I was wiped out by a hit-and-run driver who blew through a stop sign in my residential neighborhood.

My bike was totaled and I'm in the hospital with a shattered hip, shattered right foot, five broken ribs, multiple bruises and contusions.
And I was wearing full protective gear.

The good news is that the idiot's front license plate was ripped off by the impact of him hitting me and now the cops are after him. I haven't heard anything yet but I could hear something in the next day or so.

Happy to be alive, it could've been much much worse.

Doctors tell me I'll be in a wheelchair for about two months

Youch, so sorry to read of your misfortune, healing vibes, I hope justice prevails.
Ive been wheelchair bound due to accident myself with multiple broken bones, ORIF's (open reduction internal fixation). While it really sucks, just know, your going to heal, it takes some time, just stay positive, bust your *** with PT and youll be back to normal before you know it.

On another note, my daily has been a Titan crew cab since buying it new in 2007. Before that was a ford crew cab bought new in 2003. Our kids are grown and out of the house so finally...(sweet relaxing exhale), I was able to purchase a new to me PW 6mt sport Z last week, kept the Titan, do way to much truck stuff to not have it, but its not the dd anymore. Loving my new sled!

Glad to see you typing. WOW!!! That's all I can say for now. Sounds like you might be a candidate for some fancy Ti metal putting you back together. And on that note. I'll give you something to think about. The new 2017 CBR. It has a Ti gas tank and other bits made from Ti. Please keep us up-dated on your progess. In our prayers.

2 versions. The SP1 for under $20,000. And the SP2 for under $25,000. Both are the 25th Anniversary Edition of the CBR. The SP2 would look great next to my 2007 25th Anniversary Edition VFR.

Thanks for posting that I hadn't seen it, That is one sweet bike, it's about time Honda

My Ohlins shock is OK I'm not sure of the forks are salvageable.

I was thinking about maybe getting away from sport bikes but, that's making me reconsider.

It's funny how many people have been telling me they can't believe that I would think about riding the motorcycle again. I just tell them I can't imagine going through life without one. Only fellow riders understand that

You're welcome.
Instead of a sport bike. Sport tourer. There are some nice ones out there now. I embarrassed a few crotch rocket squids on my VFR in my time. My Mich Pilot Powers are worn to the edge. No chicken strips.

Rider > bike every time. It's true for cars too but it's exponentially more evident on 2 wheels. People always buy bikes because of what a professional racer on a closed course can make it do, not because of how it performs for them, at their skill level, in the real world. If I had it to do over again I'd have a 1098 Streetfighter instead of my 848... maybe less capable on a track, but tons more fun/comfortable for what I actually use it for.

I look at their rear tires. Most are worn squared off, with the numbs sill on the edges. Chicken strips about 1.5" wide.

Well to be fair, if you're grinding your tires down to the edges on public roads, chances are you won't be with us for very long.

2" chicken strips are a different matter though.
